Can This Be Done?

We have a March UY. We had 112 points left in our 06 UY which we banked into '07. We would like to plan a trip for August 07 that would require 390 points. Can we use the banked 112 '06 points, our 150 '07 points and borrow the remaining 128 points from '08? This reservation would be at our home resort BCV. If we are later able to switch to a standard view at BWV it would be only 321 points. Can we return the difference of 69 points to our '08 UY? Thanks for the info!

Yes, you can borrow the 128 points from your 2008 UY to make the reservation.

If you cancel the reservation (which is what you do when you re-book it), the points will all be in the 2007 UY. You cannot return the 128 points that you borrowed from 2008 back to that UY.

So in the scenario you described, what you should do is cancel the BCV reservation and book the BWV SV using all the 2006 banked points, all the 128 borrowed points, and the balance with your 2007 regular points. You could then bank the leftover 69 points (2007 UY) into 2008 and use them at that point.

August, 2007 will be in your March, 07 Use Year - so you may use points banked from 3/06 and may borrow points from 3/08 for that trip.

Any points borrowed to make that reservation cannot be returned to their original 2008 Use Year, but if you later make changes that will use fewer points you can/should use the banked and borrowed points first and then bank any unneeded 2007 points for use during your 2008 Use Year.

Thanks for the help! I think I understand. So if I were able to later switch to a SV at BWV I would need to tell MS to use the banked and borrowed points first. The difference in points would then be from my '07 year and I could bank them into '08. Right?

Right.

The banked points from 2006 will expire at the end of February, 2008 and the points borrowed from 2008 will also expire at the end of February, 2008. The only points that would have any longer period of use are the 2007 points - providing they are banked into 2008 for use thru February, 2009.
