Hi

Was wondering has anyone ever tried to blend a WW and low carb program together?

Does it work? Pros and Cons?

Have a Disney day!!:sunny: :sunny:

Thanks!!

I haven't tried a program like that so I'm going to bump this up so that some of WW veterans can offer advice.

I haven't been to WW in awhile, but plan on going back next week. I think low carb is definately something you can do on WW. As long as you stay in the points range, go for it.

I know with all the talk of low carb diets out there, I have cut back on my carbs in the past year. I'm not following a low carb diet, but just reading the nutritional information on some packages, makes me think a little harder about whether it is really worth it to have all those carbs. I find myself eating more protein based snacks: string cheese (2 pts); hard boiled egg (2 pts), etc.

Way back when......6 years ago I believe....I was doing weight watchers....with not much success. I then went to a "diet doctor" who not only put me on some powerful drugs...but also gave me a diet based on the 40-30-30 principle....if anyone remembers that one. It was really a version of the Zone but not as difficult ....also my first introdution to a "LOWER " carb way of eating....More protein etc.
Well ....I did extreamly well with it....and as I was following what the doctor suggested....I also would figure out daily WW point totals...and I was right on target with the points without really even trying....again based on the other diet...
I calculated points for about a month or so.
I think if you calculate WW points while eating lower carb it will definately help control your portion sizes too.....
Good Luck :0

Thanks for the information. Started WW online as of today!! Need all the help I can get.

At the link that Annie posted, you'll probably want to focus on page 3- "Quck and Easy Guide to Higher Protein Eating, Red Light Edition". That's the lowest-carb version of this plan.

And I like the format of that guide, just choose 1 item from each column for each meal.

(I've had a printed copy of this in my office for ages, but I had lost the link. So, thanks bunches, AnnieT!!!)

They release the new program on Sunday. :)

Jackie, you'll see what I mean but I reccomend using a combination of BOTH parts of the new program if portion control is your problem.

If that still doesn't make sense after you check in, come on back and I'd be more than happy to help you!!!! ::yes::

I'm thinking of starting WW officially again but I haven't decided if I want to go to meetings or do it online. I was going to go to a meeting today, but would I be better off waiting until next week since this new program isn't being rolled out until tomorrow?

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but DEFINITELY wait until Sunday or later to join.
