Can they really do this?

wow 15 pages of speculation...it is a shame OP doesn't direct the child's mom to the DIS so she can give HER side of the story. How do we know she hasn't shelled out $$ for this? We don't.

And I don't think it's over the top at all. I probably wouldn't drive 90 minutes but that's just me.

We do know..someone reliable has a contact at the BC and they have looked into it and there is nothing planned for that day at SAB at all....There are loads of posters here with contacts it would be easy to find out if this was a go. I for one would have no problem if mom had paid the mega bucks it would take to do this...even if it is even possible which I suspect it isn't.

The OP said the mother hadn't made any arrangement for food, including cake. I'm surprised that Disney would give permission for a birthday party that didn't include some kind of time limit and food purchase. Another poster posted information on the birthday party package at the sandcastle club.

I'm not shocked Disney would give permission but I'm surprised the host isn't required to purchase some kind of package.

You guys are coming up with a lot more info than I am from the OP's note. She invited kids to a birthday party. She stated she got permission. What's had to believe about that? Especially in the year of a million dreams.

So many people have stated that they wouldn't be happy about this. Well, believe it or not, Disney does have such goings on LOL. They do give guests permission to do things out of the ordinary and against the "rules" (note..these are their rules..and they can break them at will), just like any other hotel. Now we have the kids being bused to BB and being let in free and even that can cause people to be upset..and it's not even happening. :rotfl: This is very entertaining.

I wonder how people handled the pets in the rooms at the Deluxes during the hurricanes. Imagine that..no pets allowed and they slept in the rooms! And Disney gave them permission..even though the rules say no. And to top it off..the owners were from the campground! They let campground people stay and swim in the deluxes..and they didn't charge them.

Yep, Disney owns the place and they get to decide on what they will allow. The OP said the person had permission. So, unless someone has proof she doesn't, I'll just have to believe it. I'm sure there will now be some Disers parked right there ready to jump on the first person they see with a pile of kids, even if Disney did ok this. Bet the OP wishes she'd never posted. I'm sure she doesn't want this gal to have trouble.

It's certainly possible someone like an assistant manager gave permission without logging it as an "event".

Doris is the voice of reason. It's possible the family got permission, it's also possible they didn't. We don't know and the OP doesn't know. Someone already posted the price for a sandcastle club birthday party. I suspect a birthday party that includes an hour or two at SAB wouldn't cost "mega bucks". Now closing SAB for an exclusive party would cost $$$.

This whole thing is insane! Disers are sending one another PMs and researching, via their BC contacts, what parties are and are not planned for this specific date? Hilarious!

We know next to nothing about what the actual plan is and yet all these people are up in arms. It's ridiculous!

OK. I got the scoop from the mom.

They are DVC members and have a room for the weekend. They talked to the staff of the Beach Club and they are aware that there may be a few families coming to spend a few hours at the pool and apparently they are cool with it.

She's not doing anything special, like Beaches & Cream. Not even sodas from what I understand.

Regarding what the woman is providing in the way of snacks, there's no way she's not providing the children with beverages at a birthday party, especially one outdoors and in the Florida sunshine... Please.

And many of us have done things at Disney that the Dis said couldn't happen, or the person couldn't have been given permission. Heck, even I have done something that I was told I couldn't on the Dis but Disney had no problem with it (you couldn't drag it out of me, in case I want to do it again :rotfl2: ). I don't see how the person who PM'd you (and if they have facts, I sure wish they would post on this thread) could be sure that one of the many assistant managers of the different areas couldn't have said yes, unless they have talked with all three shifts and areas). But if they have, then come on down, and post about it.
As the 'World' turns....continues after these brief messages...and these are the days of our lives..on the Dis :hourglass

Well she is probably expecting the parents of the guests to buy their kids drinks...the party mom told the OP that there would be no food or drinks provided.

Geez! No she didn't. That's my point and why I included the OP's quote in my last post. Read it again. She does not say that the hostess said she was not providing food and drinks:

"not doing anything special" and "not even sodas from what I understand" does not mean that no food or drink will be provided...

To the OP, did the hostess say to you that she was not providing any food or drink at all for her guests? :scared1:

That was my understanding from the mom.

Thank you beejie....:thumbsup2 ...I thought it was obvious when beejie said not even sodas would be provided...but there you go.;)

this thread is like a bad addiction.......
sorry, I cant imagine anyone having a party, inviting guests, and not providing food or drink???? On any level...simple or extravagent....am I alone in this line of thinking?

No your not alone..get some popcorn..popcorn:: and join the party.
Its a bizarre set up all round. :hippie:

who is up for a road trip this weekend? I have been thinking of checking out the amenities at the Beach Club Resort.....lol..Kidding Folks.....THis thread has generated so much interest, I am sure I could get some takers:)

I find it hard to believe there would be a children's birthday party with not so much as a cup cake...and it's funny how the DIS has "reliable contacts" at the BC....I am sure the mom would not send out invites for someplace 90 minutes away that had the chance of full on embarrassment in the form of no one being allowed to swim and play, think about it.

As compelling as this might be for us to discuss endlessly, the original poster's question has been asked and answered.

I think the important thing to a remember is that this is a child's birthday and I think we can all agree that we would not want the DIS to be responsible for ruining that day for that child; regardless of how we might feel about the question at hand.

There's nothing further to be gained from this discussion. I'm going to close this thread here.

Thanks,

Knox

For those who cannot go on without knowing the end to the "Storm-A-Long Bay" soap opera...

Apparently the party has been cancelled due to a family emergency.

The End.
