Just what this guy needs. Thanks for all you do, Disney. :badpc:

Sigh... I was actually looking kind of forward to the Boy Band tribute..... LAME!! They sang two of their regular songs... then had a two minute song of one Backstreet Boys, Nsync, and One Direction song. Love the Dapper Dans, but just fell short :-( At least the Voices of Liberty got their own whole show in a different place last week!

No, the rest of the year they aren't bursting with excitement...they're just really happy....

Note to self: don't read the Disboards after abdominal surgery. It can be hazardous to your health.

The fact that I had to stop and decide if this is one of the made up "Magic" events or a real one is not good.

The one that really got to me was "do our marketing department's job for them" week, also known as pick the 2014 logo week (spoiler alert: they announced today that the Mary Blair-esque castle was chosen). It also bothers me when it's just merchandise by itself. (By way of comparison, when they had the One More Disney Day festivities last year [one of the highlights of my year; we had an amazing time in DL that day] there were limited time merchandise options (and food) which I happily bought--but they were in addition to massively extended hours, a special Fantasmic! showing, and special characters). But just Disney makeup? Are you kidding me?

Many of the Disneyland offerings are similar to events that they have at the park regularly--but they are neat little events that tend to have a number of components to them (characters in special costumes, special/rare characters related to the event, entertainment, AND food and merchandise offerings). So the rebranding makes the TDA promotion look a little lazy, but the events themselves aren't bad.

And then there are the awesome Disneyland events--bringing back the Golden Horseshoe Revue (how I wish I lived near LA in January and early February!). Or even the special sneak peek of Oz playing in the DCA Muppetvision 4D theater with 4D effects (plus an exhibit with props and artwork at Downtown Disney Anaheim)--yes, it's promoting Disney's latest big blockbuster film, but it is NEW and it's RELEVANT (a longer peek than you might get on a trailer, on a big screen, AND with 4D effects!). Surely TDO could put a similar (or the same) cut of the film in the imagination theater replacing (if only temporarily) Captain EO--and tying in to the Oz garden they've built for the Flower and Garden festival (speaking of which, is anyone else surprised that the Flower and Garden festival isn't being billed as more "limited time magic"?).

TDO, by comparison, seems to think it can bring out a more limited version--characters OR entertainment AND food and merchandising to have the same effect. I don't mind them selling stuff for a limited time (or changing up their souvenir offerings generally--I think the more unique souvenirs they offer, instead of the same generic t-shirt or whatever in every shop, is all to the good). I understand that having additional characters or new music sets costs the company money (they've got to pay the performers, they might have to arrange the music, they've got to arrange for rehearsals, etc). But, given the versions of limited time magic we're seeing in Orlando, it feels hastily done.

If Disney really were looking for something to drive more impulse visits to the park (and I think Disneyland does it pretty well already with the mini-celebrations for things like the Lunar New Year and Mardi Gras), I have a feeling that modeling it after Star Wars Weekends or Flower and Garden or Food and Wine or Halloween celebrations or Christmas celebrations (or the Disneyland holiday weekends mentioned earlier) would be more successful. Those events seem to have enough additional components to really drive a trip to see them.

You guys kill me. This is one of the better threads in a while! :rotfl:

I would love to see LTM like

1) Tapestry for one week
2) Retro Week. In which we get E Tickets and old 1971 Park Maps and other souvenirs they might of given out when the park first opened.
3) Night Safaris week at DAK.
4) Disney Afternoon week. Remember Duck Tales!!!
5) I love parades and would love to see a LTM at MK centered around them. I know that is not possible to have all the parades back do to $$ but how about some combination of past parades?
6) Christmas in July. Let’s have the Christmas parade in July for one week.
7) How about "you" ! So you just rode Soarin and you can’t get enough and want to go one more time. So stay on it! :)
8) Duffy Bear takes a Holiday week. you can great duffy at every WS country wearing a costume authentic to the country.
9) Same goes for all the Fab five. I want to see Minnie wearing a Kimono!!

#7 sounds like YOAMD or Magical Moments

I'm a Phineas and Ferb fan so I'm loooking forward to Dr. Doofenschmirtz week. He will be narrating all of your favorite attractions, including Wishes, Spaceship Earth, IASW, and of course everyone's favorite transportation in the sky: The Monorail!

Seriously, Disney dropped the ball on this year's promotion.

Someone needs to tell Disney Marketing that they already did this 2 years ago with MAC. :sad2:

It's funny you mention the one more disney day promotion for last year- I kept thinking about it trying to figure out what the deal was last year. Anybody who doesn't live right there or wasn't going anyways didn't even notice a promotion.
I mean I read about it, but it did me no good.

This crap is probably in response to everybody wanting it to effect them last year.

I really think they should go all out for St. Patrick's day though, not just green water in the rides- I want to see green water fountains, green soda, food review pictures with green water on the tables. At least do it right. Then at least nobody would complain if they miss it.
