Bitter about what? Just realistic, he is not a good player yet is in the USA squad they do not have strength in depth.

I can't be bitter about that, the rest of the team did not perform well, but with them they were a lot worse than they should be, but Spector was as good as he can be and yet still the worst player.

I think the US have a pretty good team. Im predicting Quarter finals which isnt bad at all. To put it into context us in England last won it in 1966 and have only been beyond the quarter finals once or twice since that and we invented the game!!!

Just think, If you do win it means you can genuinely call yourselves world champions of something other than sports that only the US enter

It was a big media stir over beating Indi as if Indi were sure to win when anyone with any knowledge of the game (including a brit like me) knew that the superbowl was a 50/50 (or at worst 60/40 in favour of indi) call between the two.

I found it great how so many non-soccer fans chime in with opinions. Can the US win it all? of course. Is it likely? No.

Greece won Euro 04 basically playing Bunkerball. They won a competition that includes the best teams in Europe. Is the US better than Greece, oh god yes.

In the 2002 World Cup we were 2 games away from a Turkey vs. South Korea Final.

It all depends on who gets hot, and how they react.


Best case scenario:

US wins Group C, plays runner-up from Group D (avoids Germany). This could be any of the remaining teams: Ghana, Serbia, Australia. All teams that the US can beat.
They would then play the winner of A1 vs B2. Which would avoid Argentina. All of the teams yesterday looked beatable (France was a mess) And Greece/Nigeria/South Korea don't strike fear into anyone. So the US could easily make it into the semis.

The US got hot at the right moment in the Confed Cup. They beat Spain. People don't realize the magnitude of that. Spain has only lost once in the last FOUR years!!! and it was that game to USA.

If a team like North Korea can make it to the World Cup, then yes, a solid team like the U.S. can win.

North Korea probably make it because they will be in a qualifying group that contains them, South Korea and some no marks like Cambodia and Vietnam and Hong Kong under 11's

Compared to England, Italy, Brazil, France ect... we don't stack up. Not to mention our first bracket has the England team in it so I am not sure we will get past that.

You are putting yourselves down. Mark my words we (England) are vastly vastly over rated. We are technically inferior to a lot of so called lesser teams but we are pretty solid. It would not suprise me one bit if we lost tonight though as a betting man my money would be on the draw. The US will make it through the group stages with England IMO

What the average moron in England doesnt realise is that we arent that good. We do on average as well as we should do, quarter finals. Thats because we are about a top 8 - 10 team in the world. For some bizzare reason though, our fans think we have a god given right to win. They are genuinely shocked when we dont but in relaity the only teams that should have that expectation are those that walk the walk on a regular basis...Italy, Germany, the Argies, Brazil. Teams like that...the ones that when the arent winning achieve the bare minimum of semi finals or finals

The last game we played was against Japan, I believe. We won, but only because Japan scored 2 own goals!
