Can the phone CM find rooms not online

I really want a different category at the hotel I currently have booked. But it doesn't show availability online. If I called would they be able to find something I don't see or is it a waste of time and I should just keep checking back to see if someone cancels that room?

My recent experience...A couple of weeks ago I called to change dates on my reservation, I couldn't do that modification online. I had booked a 2 queen standard view at a moderate with AP discount. I could see what I wanted was available online. The CM could only see king water view rooms. She tried many different ways, including making it a package, but no standards available. I booked what I saw online and cancelled the other reservation. Not sure if this is due to AP rates or if it's a new thing since the "magical enhancements" to the website.

Up until the latest website update several weeks ago I would have said no, they see the same inventory you do. I think things may have stabilized now but it may be worth a call JUST IN CASE as there were some reports of people having better luck calling when things were really wonky.

Can we ask, which resort/room category are you wanting to change to?

I've also experienced the CM not seeing what I am seeing online. I know it's a pain to call, but if I really wanted something, I would both check online and call. This was last year so I can't blame it on their most recent "enhancements".

Right now I have the Bay Lake Tower Two-Bedroom Villa booked with Lake view. I want the Theme park view, which I can see available for some of my days just not all of them. It's a cash reservation not through points

in my experience, every time the website is down or not working, when I call directly to Disney Vacation they are helpless, they can not access to their inventory when the site is down, if you can't find a room online the chances of finding exactly the same over the phone are 0, but they would help to finding an alternative option

I have some time before my trip so I might just stalk the website and see if someone cancels before calling and waiting an hour to talk to someone lol. Thanks everyone this was really helpful :)

I don't know, I had really good luck with calling. There was absolutely no FW inventory for my whole stay- called CM and they immediately found me plenty of options. I've also never waited, but it could just be that I'm PSE and not trying to call when everyone else is.

Update: I tried calling the lady I talked to said that she sees the same inventory that I do and the only way for me to get that category is to keep checking to see if someone cancels. I had noticed a studio and one bedroom theme park view had become available online so I had wondered if she could combine those into a two bedroom which she said she could not. So I'll be just checking like crazy over the next couple months to see if anyone cancels.

Good luck. You're fighting an up hill battle given the limited inventory of cash reservations to begin with, but maybe you'll get lucky. Hope it works out for you! :-)

So I have a dilemma. It's my first trip taking kids and I decided on the change to Theme park view incase the kids get tired early we could watch the fireworks from the balcony. There is a twobedroom villa theme park view available Saturday-Monday. Right now I have Friday-Monday booked. Should I switch to the shorter trip for the view or just keep it as is

I would keep the longer trip. You can see the fireworks from other areas at the resort if they get tired. Is it just 4 of you? Would you consider the 1-bedroom?

Most 2BRs that are bookable on cash are dedicated units. It's unlikely that the studio and 1BR, each from a lock-off, are even part of the SAME lock-off.

I have had a few times where I found rooms online that the CM did not see and vice-versa. So whenever I book a trip I get it all setup online and then call to book it, just so I have both bases covered:) I started doing this about 10 years ago when I was getting ready to book a last minute trip and the only resort available was ASSP, so I called and ended up getting a great deal at CSR for the same price as ASSP.

It is just the four of us, but the two kids don't really get along and refuse to share a bed so the extra space of a two-bedroom will make it a much more enjoyable trip. Even with the two beds in the other room I could see one wanting to sleep on the couch in the living room. Since it's my first trip ever with them I want it to be the best so I don't mind the extra cost of the bigger room. I agree though that the longer trip will be better so I'll keep the room I have for now and just keep an eye on the website hoping that something comes available.

Ya that's what the CM on the phone said. I figured it didn't hurt to try, but I'll go back to my original plan of just checking constantly for an availability

I had the exact same experience this morning-I can see it but the CM cant. I was able to book myself what they cant even see. ugh.

Therefore it may be worth a call. Something wonky is going on and it may go both ways, with the online patron seeing availability that CM cant see and CM's seeing availability that online patrons cant see.

I would take the 1-bedroom and have the children work it out. Don't get me wrong, we are fans of a 2-bedroom, but it's because we actually need the space. I definitely wouldn't shorten my trip because of it or sacrifice a room view. The 1-bedroom will have 2 queen beds, a sofa bed and a sleeper chair, so they don't need to share a bed. Plus you'd have two bathrooms. It's plenty of space.
