Can the BRP discount go down?

I think I'm going to buy an AP for our January trip. The discount off of a deluxe is currently $96 for our travel dates, which seems amazing. From what I understand, I have to buy the pass, and then wait 7-10 days for it to arrive before I can use it to book rooms. I know that the exact room category may not be available then, but can the $96 per night go down between now and when I get my AP? I'm not suggesting that the rate for people who already have reservations will change, but how about the fixed discount?

Anyone know?
Thanks!

I don't know about the discount itself changing, but the room-type can definitely fill up and become unavailable.

But, I talked to a super-nice CM yesterday who said you can book the BRP over the phone without an AP in hand. He checked and said that he could reserve the room with a one night's non-ref. deposit and that I would have to have the AP (or voucher) when I check in. Whether every CM will tell you the same thing, I don't know, but other people on here have done it as well. You have to call between 2-5pm EST. I would much rather secure the room and then order the AP.

Good luck! BTW, where are you planning on staying? You're going to be there the same time we are! :flower:

Yes, the BRP can and does go down, I have seen it happen to people.
basically thats why with best rate you can't pay it off ahead of time, you book one night, if the price goes down you pay less when you arrive(and they will also refund you the difference you put down for the first night as well).
:goodvibes

I am also going to WL in January, 16-22. The $96 discount was hard to beat!

What I did was buy the AP online, then called the next day to ticket services who gave me my AP number over the phone (they can't give it to you til it starts processing I guess). Then you can use it to go online and book your room.

Word of advice - make sure the CM reads the number back to you again. I tried for 24 hrs trying to get the number to work when in the end, she had given me the wrong number. And I had read it back to her too!

Okay, maybe I should ask, "Will the price go up?". I reserved 2 standard rooms at WL for our dates, and the CM told me that when my AP arrives, they can convert my reservation to an AP reservation, if the availability isn't there otherwise (or if 2 rooms are available I can make an AP reservation and cancel my rack rate reservation). Does that make sense? My question is, I will buy the AP with the intent that the $96 discount will still be there, but will it be? I would love to pay $109 per night to stay at WL! I will definitely check with ticket services to see if I can get my ticket number faster than waiting for it to come in the mail.
I'm hoping this all works out!

As I posted above, you can reserve the BRP rate over the phone from 2-5pm EST without having an AP. That way you don't run the risk of any rate changes or rooms not being available while you wait for it to be mailed.

Our rate for AKL just went down to $121/night - it was $150 on the BRP. So they live up to their word!

Kim- Is that a standard view?

Thanks :flower:

I'm so confused! I tried to do this over the phone, and the CM I talked to wouldn't let me. Then, a CM on the regular reservations line told me that I could book the rooms at rack rate and turn them into BRP when I got my AP, but I'm not sure I believe it. Someone on this board looked up the BRP for my dates tonight and said that there are no standard views available, so I'm paranoid that I'll buy the AP and then be stuck. Ugh, I don't know what to do. The Disney website still shows that they have standard rooms available, but just not for BRP? I guess I'll have to try again between 2-5.

As sad as it sounds, I think you get completely different answers from different CMs. The one I spoke with didn't "offer" that option at first, but then he went to "read some information" and came back on to tell me I could book without the AP in hand, but that I'd have to do it on the phone, since you can't access the AP site without an AP.

Anyway, just keep trying until you get someone who will do it! It wasn't a fluke b/c others on here have booked w/out an AP also. Just keep calling back!

HLAuburn is right on the money - It really depends on who you talk to.

I was able to book the BRP without my AP. I won't be oredering it for another month. I was just told to make sure I have it at check-in.

HLauburn, were you able to get WL standard view at the BRP price of $109? Your dates are so close to mine, I feel like I have a better chance of making this work if someone else had gotten that price!

Thanks!

LOL, no actually all they had was woods view for our dates ($160 with tax I think). And I didn't book it. I decided to go with the YRE package with the non-expire passes. Sorry. :( I'd definitely try (several times) to book w/out an AP before I bought one, especially if your main purpose of the AP is to get a room discount.
The other option is ordering your AP on the phone and the next day (I htink) you can call ticketing and get your AP # so you can book online. That way you only have to wait a day or so vs. the 7-10 days for it to come in the mail.

Good luck!

There was a phone message waiting for me when I got home yesterday. My BRP rate for the YC in January went down and I saved about $30/night!! The discount off of the standard rate pays for the AP!

Now I just have to wait 12 weeks to go.

For the ignorant me what is an AP or a BRP ?!?!

Ashwini

AP= Annual Pass
BRP= Best rate program, which is the new program for obtaining room discounts with an annual pass
