Can tents and motorhomes live in harmony?

My big tent camping adventure is getting closer by the day. We had to change our travel dates at one point and when we did so we could not get a partial-hookup site. I went ahead and paid the little extra to get the preferred (rather than the full) site. I just figured we'd be closer to the action.

Yesterday, when at the mall I parked near a motorhome. When I stepped out I noticed that it was "running" with a loud hum. When I went back to my car after shopping it was still there and was still making the humming noise.

Now I'm concerned that the noise from all the motorhomes will keep us awake all night. Is this a concern? Or can a $50 tent camper live in harmony with a $100K+ motorhome? Also, is exhaust a problem?

What you heard was the noise from the generator. While at FW the motorhomes will be hooked up to electricity so they won't be running the generators. You may hear the hum of the air conditioners, but that is not very loud.

I think you'll be fine--but I am talking from the motorhome side. Maybe a tenter or two will help here.

You should be fine. that rv was probably running it's generator, or just the engine. Niether of which they will be doing much of in the campground. The generator is not needed when plugged in and unless they take it to the parks each day they won't be using the engine(although if parked for many days some will run it for a while). About all you'll probably hear is the hot water heater puffing on or the furnace. Maybe if its hot the AC running (that could get annoying).
Hope you have fun, take a day to spend in the campground exploring.

As the others have said at FW or any campground with Electrical hook ups it is not a problem. Even the A/C, while you may hear it is not bad and usually fades into white background noise. However, you do not want to camp by anyone that is running a generator as it does get very annoying.

Depending on when you're going to be there (which sounds like pretty soon?), it won't be necessary for folks to be running AC anyway. We found the campground very quiet overall. We did a lot of walking around the campground and in spite of the fact that it was the middle of July, we didn't notice any excess noise from all the AC running. We were in a motorhome in the 1300 loop, and when we would come home late from the parks, it was very quiet. Being in a preferred loop is going to put you closer to everything, and most of the noise you will hear will probably be from the buses.

When we had our pop-up trailer we stayed in the Preferred sites.

We never noticed any excess noise from the motorhomes. The only sounds you'll hear are the buses going by.

Have fun!

we have never had any problem with generator type noises and most people there are too tired after touring the parks to cause much late partying noise(lol) but like every where else some people are more considerate than others ( like one family who refused to accept that everyone does not allow their kids to be out riding their bikes and screaming at midnight) If you have a problem I would mention it to the CM.
