Can someone walk me through how to personalize blank DISigns?

I have 6 children and would like to make them autograph books, activity books, and journals. I would love to learn how to do this and not have to bother DISIgners, but I am rather clueless. I downloaded a free trial of Photo Impact X3. I also have Power Point.

I tried cutting and pasting my blank onto a page in Photo Impact, but I couldn't figure out how to resize the image so that it filled the page. I know this is very elementary, but I am stumped. I did figure out how to add a child's name, but was struggling with editing it once the "box" diappeared.

That's how I started. Watch out it's very addictive!!

I don't use photo impact but I think most programmes work along the same lines. If it is just to personalise a blank, I would save the image in say 'My Pictures' and then open it up in photo impact to add the name. This way it will already fill the page. Most programmes work in layers so to edit something you need to click on the correct layer. Also it would depend how the image is saved. A JPeg image for example all the layers are merged when it saves so you can't edit it (or if you can I haven't figured it out yet!!)
