I know this may sound silly - but I haven't flow in years, and am not a great flier (stomach doesn't like it  ) and we leave REALLY early in the morning. We are flying out of ROC in Nov on a Saturday. What do we do - get tickets at a kiosk of some kind, or just go to the front line at the airport to get tickets, then go check in at the line by our terminal?

It's best to have ticket purchased before you go to the airport, but I suspect you already have those, and you have likely paid and have a confirmation number. The days of buying a ticket at the counter are long gone, and frequently airlines save their highest fares for those buying them on the day they fly.

When you get to the airport, you give your confirmation number to either curbside check-in (if they have that at ROC) or at the ticket counter. They will issue you boarding passes at one of those locations (altho with some airlines you can actually print your boarding cards on your home computer). Then you go thru security and off to the gate and wait for them to call boarding.

Check out JetBlue's website for procedures.

Good luck!

JetBlue offers online check in if, and only if, you have no luggage to check.

So if you're only taking carry-on, feel free to check in online 24 hours before your flight takes off.

Since you asked for a walk through (and even though pumpkinboy did a bangup job answering) - I'm bored. So I'll go through the whole dang thing! :)

Before you leave the house, make SURE that you have photo identification with you.

If you have not used online check in, you will need to get boarding passes, and you have a couple of options to do that. You can do curbside check in. The people that check you in curbside are called skycaps, and if you use their services, it's standard to tip them - usually about $1 - $2 per bag.

If that's not available, or you choose to not use their services, simply proceed through the main doors and go to the ticket counter.

Either way you go, you will be required to give your identification. If you have baggage to check, they will put claim tags on each piece of luggage. (JetBlue allows each passenger up to 3 bags, weighing up to 70 pounds each - anything beyond that will cost you) They will give you your boarding pass, and you'll proceed to security.

You absolutely must have a boarding pass in order to go through security. You will show them your boarding pass, and your photo identification. You will then go through the line to a metal detector. Although not required, I usually take my shoes off, and wear metal-free outfits (plastic zippers, or wind pants with rope ties...no belts, and jewelry goes into a baggie in my carry on). If you have a laptop or camera in a bag or briefcase, you are required to take those devices out of the bags or briefcase and they will pass them through the X-Ray machine.

If you set off the metal detector, they'll do a more thorough screening. They pass a wand metal-detector over you.

From there, you'll proceed to your gate. (Your gate number will be listed on your boarding pass). When they begin boarding the plane, they start with pre-boarding. That's for families with children that are 2 (I think) or younger, the elderly, or anyone who needs extra time or assistance in boarding. From there, they begin boarding from the REAR of the plane forward.

When your row is called, you need to give them your boarding pass, and you'll get on the plane. If you want to watch the free DirecTV, make sure you grab a set of headphones.

Then you'll take off! :)

It's really not a big deal. That's just a specific walk through - again because I was bored!! :)

We love flying JetBlue. How about taking a Dramamine an hour before you take-off? It always helps me.

Thank you sooooooooooo much!! You answered a ton of my questions! We will have baggage - so we will either do the skycap, or check in at the counter. (we did already buy our tickets - you are right Pumpkin :p I forgot about that part!LOL!)

I haven't tried Dramimine in years - made me so sleepy that I couldn't take it when I was a single parent flying with a baby. I may have to get a few to use for the trip though. I used those 'magnetic' bracelets while pg and after I had dd. They take off the edge - but I still wasn't great. I just don't want to be all yucky feeling when I get down there

Are the headsets new/clean, and do they go outside your ears or inside? Kind of gross - but I will bring my own if needed. LOL

When we flew JetBlue, the headsets were sealed in plastic bags, and were the foam-y sit outside your ear kind. We all actually used our own, since I had my discman, and DS had his for his Gameboy. But, for a nice quick 3 hour flight, they were fine.

You will enjoy your JetBlue experience. I know we did.

Jet Blue is Great!

The FA's have always been right there if you need or want something and the TV's help pass the time. The headphones are new, sealed in a bag and rest on the ear.

I also like the flight tracker on CH 14.

It's too bad that they are soo expensive for over Veterens day or I would be on them again. (I know it's a holiday, but)
