I do believe this is the standard way for things to re-appear OR just quit looking for them...they suddenly get lonely and stop playing hide & go seek at that point.
OR they are buried under something....I could send my youngest to help you -- we have dubbed him the detective. He finds things that have been lost for ages!! One of my kids lost their gameboy & we did eventually get a new one -- my youngest one day just FOUND the old one something like a year after we gave up looking (UNDER my desk.... have no clue how it managed to get there!). So, now whenever we lose something, we just ask him to go on a search for it to find it (9 times out of 10 he does).
They were hidden, and you will not get them back until you have a conversation with regards to that half ton of coal you are slated to get for Christmas.
Haha! Just last night I was hunting for my giftwrap tissue all over, until my DD reminded me that I threw it all out last year because it smelled "like the basement". (we had had a flood, everything got musty)
Well it was like this. I ran out of gift tabs and needed more. I was walking by your house and saw your garage door open and there was my much need gift tags. I promise to return then after Christmas.
I have given up looking for them, though its possible I accidently gave them to my sister when I gave her all the gift bags (she like to bag gifts, I like to wrap).
