I'm somewhat of a runner and on our last trip I decided it would be great to run around the 7 seas lagoon and through all the resorts and by the front of the magic kingdom. Unfortunately there is no bridge that connects Grand Flo to MK, am I the only one that thinks this is kinda weird? What a nice attraction it would be to have the ultimate jogging path by the magic kingdom and by all the resorts, and a cheap addition too!

I've often wondered why they built the path all the way down there, but never connected it to anything. The canal there is where they store the Electric Water Pageant barges, so if they did build a bridge it would either need to be a draw bridge (like in Epcot where the fireworks barges enter), or one that would require climbing a lot of stairs.

It may be that they don't want large numbers of people walking through the deluxe resorts when the park closes. If there was a bridge there, it would be a way to avoid waiting for the Monorail or Ferry.

The bridge would be expensive, as BirdsofPreyDave said, it would need to some type of draw bridge or would require stairs. And stairs would need to be supplemented by a ramp system or elevator for wheelchairs and scooters. Plus, if the area is considered a wetlands, then additional permits or waivers.

Plus you can't walk from the Contemporary to the TTC unless you are in a Disney authorized race.

We were on the monorail last weekend and were looking down at that and discussing the same thing. You would think they had to have something in mind when they built the path all the way down to the canal. (Or maybe they just sold too many bricks and went further than they planned).

ok, I'm going on Google Earth to see what you're talking about... must've missed this!

google earth is where this started for me, I really want to go for a morning run through the resorts and by the train station!

I think like Chuck S said, it would be very expensive to add a bridge to accomodate a footpath, plus it would have to handicap accessible (law).

I would love if they would finish the pathway, but I don't think it will happen because of the expense.

I wish they would find a way to do this too. We had an 8-mile run scheduled when staying at Contemporary, and boy did it get dull running in circles from the monorail station and around the resort over and over again. It would be fantastic if Disney could find a way to make this happen. If they closed it at dark, they could avoid the problem of people bypassing the monorails and ferries at closing time.

I had asked a CM a few years ago about that. He said it would never happen because there is a little waterway over there where they bring the water parade in and out of.

Next time, take the boat from the Contemporary dock over to WL. There are beautiful trails through heavily wooded areas. Some paved, or you could head out to the bay and run on dirt and have fantastic views of the BLT and the Contemporary.

You can go up into the campgrounds and run around the streets there as well. Minimal traffic; nice people. It won't bore you.

You just have to time your run, if you like to get out early in the morning, to the boat schedule because I'm not sure how early they start running it.
