the week of Sept 11-15? I know that something changes on teh 14th but not sure what?
thanks;)

Please note that these are all rumors and not all of these will be closed, but these are the ones that could be down starting as early as the day after Labor Day:
Disneyland:
  • Big Thunder (Up to an 18 Month Rehab to redo major portions of the track and queue)
  • Autopia (Possibly a permanent closure as part of a Tomorrowland makeover)
  • Innoventions (Possibly a permanent closure as part of a Tomorrowland makeover)
  • Finding Nemo Submarine Ride (Possibly a permanent closure as part of a Tomorrowland makeover)
  • Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters (Possibly a permanent closure as part of a Tomorrowland makeover)
  • Astro Orbiter (Possibly a permanent closure as part of a Tomorrowland makeover)
  • Captain E-O (Possibly a permanent closure as part of a Tomorrowland makeover)
  • Starcade (Possibly a permanent closure as part of a Tomorrowland makeover)
  • Haunted Mansion (This is the only definite one on the list, as it will be to install the Holiday overlay)
  • Pirates of the Caribbean (There were some roofing issues during the last big rain storm apparently)
  • Fantasmic! (Will at least be weekends only, but may need some attention)
  • If Fantasmic! is closed, chances are everything that runs on the river will be too, at least part of the time.
  • Voices of Liberty (They are only scheduled to run through Labor Day, wish they would get extended though, so I guess this is another confirmed one)

DCA:
  • World of Color (To redo the entire viewing area)
  • Parts of Carsland (To rework some traffic flow issues and this would most likely not affect any given attraction for too long, but they may also take the time to correct some issues on each attraction at the same time)
  • Aladdin (May be permanent to put a new show in by Thanksgiving or if it is going to stay, they would most likely be replacing the flying carpet with something new)
  • Dancing with Disney (This is supposed to run through summer only)
  • Soarin' over California (There have been a lot of technical issues that maintenance should be able to fix)
  • Bugs Land (Possibly a permanent closure to prepare for an expansion into the rest of the Timon lot, although the rumor is they would build there first, then close Bugs Land, if necessary to minimize the downtime)
  • Rotating portions of Hollywoodland (This actually makes the most sense, since it didn't get any really major work during the makeover of DCA)

Again, most of these are rumors and nothing more and I have no inside knowledge, other than running into people who would be in the know when we visit the parks, but in my experience rumors tend to have some truth to them. I can also say that not all of these will happen at the same time, if ever on some of them. From what I understand Big Thunder is fairly certain though and I would guess 2-3 per park will be down.

that is disappointing

How about this one.

All of Disneyland Park will close. They are going to tear almost 100% of it down to rebuild the paths to accomodate larger crowds and build a tunnel sytem underneath for CM access.

I thought that rumor for the TL redo was for a 3 year period later this decade... not after labor day.

:rotfl: And I understand "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" and "Captain EO" will be the only attractions running during this 20-year rehab. :rotfl:

Seriously, I would not worry. There will probably be several rehabs, especially early in your trip, but the rumors were just speculation. And probably the days before the 14th (the start of Halloweentime) will be less busy.

Haunted Mansion Holiday will be OPEN on September 14. Busy, but open, and with Fastpass. Space Mountain should be closed until September 14th too, for the Ghost Galaxy overlay. Again, on the 14th it will be busy, but open, with Fastpass available.

The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad rehab is the only rumor of those listed that seems imminent to me (it hasn't had a long refurb in a while). Even if it does get a rehab soon, we have no indication it will happen while you're at the parks. Possible, sure, but certainly not announced.

I'm not saying Soarin' couldn't use a refurb, but Disney has been trying to keep attractions up as much as possible lately (Indy has a lot of problems too, but it's had no extended rehab in quite a while). No reason to think it will be down during your visit. Possible, yes, but I don't see it happening.

The entertainment rumors may be true, OK, granted.

Yes, Tomorrowland will probably get a refurb someday, but I seriously doubt they will take EVERYTHING down--let alone ANYTHING--two months from today, given how little we've heard about it.

Sure, World of Color's viewing area might get redone someday, but I would be quite surprised if Disney put tons of walls throughout the park so soon after they finally took the walls down. And I REALLY doubt they'd do something to disrupt crowd flow and nighttime entertainment when Halloween parties send larger-than-usual crowds to DCA 2 nights a week.

Even if Cars Land does have traffic flow problems, I imagine those problems will improve when the initial hype has died down. I seriously don't imagine them making any major/disruptive changes due to traffic flow.

Have a great trip! If the park is still standing, that is. :flower3:

I am pretty sure what the OP is talking about is "Halloween Time" starting.

This means on the 14th Haunted Mansion will open with The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay and Space Mountain will open with the Ghost Galaxy overlay.

Wow, they have moved it up that early this year? Ok, then it's slightly possible that it's a small world will be down at that time.

As for the TL redo, it is always a possibility for just after labor day (similar has happened before when there's a 3 year time fram), so it's possible.

Based on what I have heard, at DL, it will be either:
Part of Tomorrowland for the make over.
Big Thunder and Fantasmic!

Pirates would most likely only be down for less than a week to have new roofing installed (at least that would be my estimate for new roofing based on what I know about that process) and so, if Halloween Time starts the 14th, it would most likely go down just after Labor Day.

For DCA:
It would most likely be one of the following:
WOC and nothing else, except 1-2 day closures (I actually rank this one as the most likely, due to where it came from). Bottom line is no matter when Disney chooses to make the necessary changes, it will be disruptive, as there is no real downtime for either park any more, so I don't see the Halloween parties effecting this. What I could see Disney doing to counteract the issue is on the non party nights, run Fanstasmic! every night as well as the Fireworks. They could also possibly shoot off fire works for DCA from the Timon lot (Providing the expansion is not done, which is unlikely if this is being done, but they could delay the construction until after Halloween), but they would want WOC back up and running in time for the Christmas crowds. The only other time that this could happen would be just after the first of the year.

Carsland - Again, this would most likely not affect too many attractions at once, but it is not uncommon for them to take an attraction down the slow season after it opened for a week or so to fix some of the problems, especially when proper soft openings (not just previews, soft opening end up with a different set of guests that have completely different behavior) were not held for the attraction and since they were not held for any of Carsland, this is actually quite likely.

Hollywoodland - This is one that makes the most sense, but is the one I have heard the least amount of CMs talking about, at least CMs that know anything. Not saying it won't happen though.

Bugsland - Again, I rank this as likely to happen, but probably not for Labor Day, it would make more sense to start building out in the rest of the Timon lot first, then close Bugsland down. This scenario is most likely if WOC above is chosen.

As I said, these are the most likely rehabs, to give an idea of what might be closed at that time.

If you are going to bring up every rumor...you are forgetting the extensive Indy refurb.

ugh seriously???? BTM for 18 months??? THAT SUX!!!!...I wonder when and how long WOC will be down

:lmao::rotfl2: good one Skiingfast:thumbsup2

I can't take full credit, this rumor has been around since late in 1971 when WDW opened. Usually the refurbishment of Sleeping Beauty's Castle comes up more often, it going to be cut in half and have 120 feet of castle inserted in the middle so the original can stand taller than Cinderella's.

I apologize for my post; I did not mean to sound mean and I'm sorry that I may have come off that way.

I didn't recognize the original poster. From their reaction, I got the impression that someone fairly new to the Disneyland side of the DIS got the idea that BTMRR, all of Tomorrowland (except the 2 headliners), the Haunted Mansion, Fantasmic!, the Mark Twain and Sailing Ship Columbia, World of Color, Cars Land, Aladdin, Soarin', and Bugs Land would ALL have notable closures during or even throughout her trip. I consider that a very unlikely scenario and I interpreted the original post as asking what will be down, not what could be down.

Again, sorry. :guilty:

Eeee-va I wouldn't worry.

A worst case senario is that a whole land could close down for a long period like 12-18 months. Something like was done with BVS in DCA, or Tomorrowland in the 60's and 90's, and Fantasyland in the 80s. Also Critter Country, when it was known as Bear Country shut down to build Splash Mountain which required the pathway back to it to close and the DLRR for some time.

There is no indication that something like this will be happening any time soon.

Otherwise the worst it gets is when a 3 Eticket and a couple other attractions close at the same time. Usually it's because one E ticket needs major work and needs serveral months being closed so it can't be helped to overlap with other E ticket work. Remember that this is only about 5 attractions at once in a resort with nearly 100 attractions.

that is really what I needed help with. thanks. :)

NO worries...I am not new to the DL side of things...but...we don't go as often and we usually go during Christmas holiday times so all the Halloween stuff is new to us at DL (we have done MNSSHP at WDW)

thanks so much !!:)

I just booked the blue byou for 16th so I'm sure it will be open on the 14-15th
