Can someone tell me exactly how to get to Magic Kingdom?

From the MK parking lot? I am driving to this park. I keep hearing about Trams, TTC, Monorails, and Ferry Boats. I have never been to MK and I just can't picture this setup.

Can you please explain this to me? I thought you parked, and walked up to the ticket gates and go in... like you do at Six Flags. Is that not right?

The Magic Kingdom is seperated from the parking lots by the Seven Seas Lagoon (a large lake). If you drive to the MK you park in the parking lots, take the parking lot tram to the TTC (Ticket and Transportation Center) and then you have two choices at the TTC. You can either take the monorail to the MK or take the Ferry Boat across the lake.

There is no way to drive up to the MK entrance unless you are on a Disney bus.

MK is the only park that you don't just park and walk in. The other parks have a tram to get you to the main entrance but you can walk if you want. MK has a lake that you either go around on the monorail or you take the ferry.

If you are an onsite guest at WDW you can take the Disney bus which will drop you off near the front entrance. No need for boats, monorails, trams this way.

MK is the only park I would suggest taking the bus if you don't want to do the other stuff.

The posters above and on the other thread gave you very good information. However, you seem to still be confused, so lets try it from another angle.

Think of the MK area as three circles (like a three ring circus). Each circle is a half mile diameter.

Circle 1 is the parking lot.
Circle 2 is the lake
Circle 3 is MK

Circle 1 touches circle 2 and circle 2 touches circle 3.

You park in circle 1.(Since circle 1 is so big, there is a tram that will take you to circle 2 (but you could walk to circle 2 if you want))

go to cirle 2 where you can either take the ferry boat across the lake or the monorail around the lake.

Once you get on the other side of circle 2, you are at the entrance of MK.

I hope this helps.

Also, if do not already have park tickets, you get those where circle 1 and circle 2 meet.

Walt Disney was dissapointed with Disneyand in California because it was right in the middle of a commercial Area. So he designed the Magic Kingdom so it was hidden from the "outside world." There is no parking lot at the Magic Kingdom because that would ruin the "magic."

You must park at the TTC. Because the lot is so big, you take a tram to the front. From there take the monoral to the Magic Kindom. It is only then you can see Cinderella's Castle.

I think some of the outer MK parking lots are actually in Georgia! ;) Seriously, the parking is really far from anything, which is why you need a tram to get to the TTC to take a monorail or ferry to the park gate. Our DS is wheelchair bound, so we can park in the HC parking, relatively near the TTC (note: TTC is where circles 1 and 2 intersect); even from the "close" parking, it's still really far, and you still have to go thru the TTC then board a monorail or ferry top actually get to the park gate.

My solution? Stay at a Disney resort, and take the Disney bus right to the park gate. Leave your car in the parking lot of your Disney hotel!

I say for a first timer, just park where the parking lot attendants direct you to. Then follow the crowd! If you're staying onsite just take the bus from your resort.

The first year we lucked out and got a parking spot almost at the front, too good to be true! Next year we parked in the North 40 and took the tram! We now stay onsite and take the buses!
