Can someone tell me about Picnic in the Park

at Animal Kingdom.

Has anyone done this?

What foods do you get?

Was not available on our trip earlier this year, but have heard it gets decent reviews. The details as seen here http://allears.net/din/akpicnic.htm are, I'm told, very accurate. We're looking forward to trying it this December.

We did it in June and loved it!! We did the ham in Tier 2 and got tomato cucumber salad (yum) and Mac and cheese (we have kids!!) The food was fresh and ready for pick up and we sat between Africa and Asia on the water to eat which was very peaceful.

So many CS resturants are so packed that it is hard to stand in line then find a table especially with little ones. This was so convenient to just pick up our bag and head to a picnic location and not deal with any crowds.

We are planning to do it on our next trip!!

We also did it in June and thought it was wonderful. We'll definitely be doing it again. We are a family of 5, but since DD6 hardly eats, we got serving for 4 on Tier 1. The sandwiches were great, and DD6 ate mac-n-cheese for her meal, which she loved. Everyone loved the cookies, especially, and I really liked the orzo pasta side dish.

There was one drawback, and that is that the bottles of water are quite small and we were all still thirsty. Admittedly, we drink a lot of water, but it definitely was not enough. (We had brought a normal-sized bottle for our 5th person, and ended up also buying some more for everyone else.)

Also, the advertisements we had seen showed the "Every Tree Has Character" grocery bag that they sell in the shops, but the one we received was just plain and said "Animal Kingdom Picnic in the Park." It still works fine as a grocery bag, but the other one was cuter.

Overall, though, a great experience. Ready right on time, and tasty food. Also, don't do what I did and pick up napkins and silverware...it's already in the bag!

That's good to see it qualifies as a QS meal. We're doing the QSP in Nov and that definitely expands our options.

Glad to hear you liked the orzo pasta dish. We are planing to get that next time. Can you tell me if it was hot or cold??

I also agree about the water bottles but I thought it was because I am part camel!! The should at least do 16 or 20 oz bottles.

Also, are picnic tables/areas pretty easy to find? I didn't see them listed on the map.

And one more question...do you have to order exactly 2 hours before you want to pick up the food or do you choose a pick up time?

Water is the only included beverage, and the bottles are very small (one 12 oz bottle per person). This is the only thing I did not enjoy about the picnic. I can get water free, and don't like being made to pay for it.

You can use one CS credit per person for either tier - but everyone on a single order must order from the same tier. You can't mix sandwiches and chicken in one order.

As PP stated, you may order from either Tier 1 and Tier 2 with CS credits.

You don't have to order exactly 2 hours before but you need to order at least 2 hours before. For example you can not order at 11:15 and pick up at 12:00.

I would suggest order right when you arrive at the park, they are set up at the entrance. Then you can enjoy your morning, go back and your food will be ready!!

It really is quite good!!

I hear ya! We're doing YnY for our TS meal that night, so our other CS choices (bbq and pizza) don't sound too exciting. I definitely think we'll give the picnic a try.

Wow this looks like a great option. One question though (and forgive me if this has already been answered), if I would like a 3 person meal but only 2 of the people in our party are on the dining plan, can I use 2 Adult CS credits and pay the difference for the 3rd person? Thanks!!

no, it is limited to one payment method
