Can someone suggest a non-Disney travel location

My girlfriend and I are in our early to mid 20's and have been looking for a non-Disney vacation idea in the upcoming months. We did a big Disney trip last year and don't want to go back this soon. I would like it to be somewhere warm, somewhere with easy access (airport) and with lots to do. I was thinking a cruise but it seems like a pain getting from the airport to the cruise terminal in Florida. I'd also like it to be cheap, but would rather be somewhere relaxing as we are just a little too old to be at a location with kids partying and acting like idiots. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Throw a dart at Europe. Go wherever it lands as long as it is neither South Ossetia nor Transnistria. Thanks to Greece and some other countries (the P.I.G.S.) the Euro is down and you can get great deals just about anywhere.

The Big Island, Hawaii.

Warm, near airports, lots o stuff to do and then if you want, you can do nothing.

And the grown-ups have nice bars, there, too. :thumbsup2

You can also get some really good hotel rates on Priceline.

They do have cruises that leave from Boston that go to Bermuda and the Carribbean.

I would also second the suggestion on Europe.

Hawaii! You'll have a wonderful time! Its awesome for couples.

Some of the Caribbean Islands have plenty to do and aren't party havens. Just another possibility.

It's not hard at all to get from an airport to a cruiseport. The cruiseports in Miami and Fort Lauderdale are just minutes from the airports. Once onboard, everything is taken care of for you. Cruises are not all inclusives, but they do inlude your accomodations, meals, entertainment and transport between ports of call. There's plenty to do for all ages.

Key West, just fly into Miami and get a rental car to drive down the keys.

I loved it there when I was younger.

Also, Akumal near Cancun.....

try jamaica (not the cheesy spring break resorts) or riveria maya, both have some good all inclusives

Cruises are so much fun. I would also suggest Savannah, or Charleston. There are also nice resorts in FL that are not disney.

If you think you might like a cruise I would recommend Royal Caribbeans Explorer of the Seas that leaves from NJ. It goes to Bermuda in the warmer months and the Caribbean in the cooler months.

It is about three hours drive for us...we are near Sturbridge. So no airfare!

The ship is beautiful with tons to do. You can see a virtual tour on their website. It has a rock climbing wall, mini golf, online skating, ice skating, sports bars, jazz lounge, etc.. Great ship with something for everyone.

I went to Bermuda in April for about $500 and we are doing a 9 night Thanksgiving cruise for about $650 a person. We are going to St Thomas, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and their own private island of Labadee.

Check out the boards on cruise critic.com.

Next to Disney, cruising is our favorite way to vacation on a budget.

Hope this helps!

DH and I love Disney for family trips- 5 trips in 4 years and the 6th one in the planning stages.

But, when we get the chance to get away just the 2 of us, we head to Vegas! Lots and lots to do (even if you don't gamble), great food, warm weather, easy transportation options, and people-watching galore!

When my husband and I started dating in our mid 20's, we went to San Francisco for 5 nights and had the best time. We went to Alcatraz, up to Napa, went to a Giants baseball game, ate nice dinners...it's the perfect destination for an adult trip with lots to see and do.

How about Bermuda? It is a fun little island! 1 1/2 hours from Boston, they have the glass bottom boats...was not to much to go. Ride the whole island on a moped. Night clubs at night, beach days... Just a thought!
personally being I am from the boston area, I would never leave on a cruise from the north due to the weather, and the lack of time in ports..

Bermuda
Bahamas
Belize
Costa Rica
San Juan
Antigua
Barbados
St. John
Jamaica
St. Kitts
St. Lucia
St. Croix
St. Thomas
Aruba
Punta Cana

To name a few.

If you want to stay in the US:

Savannah
Virginia Beach
Outer Banks
Key West
San Diego
San Francisco
Las Vegas
Charleston
New Orleans

While there are some great travel deals to Mexico right now, I'd steer clear. We've traveled extensively in Mexico over the last 20+ years and have made some wonderful friends in our travels. Since early-mid 2009 they have all advised us not to come. What we hear about as far as the violence goes is only the tip of the iceberg as to what is really going on down there. We haven't been back since 2008 and have no plans to go in the immediate future. If you do decide on Mexico my advise would be to pick a resort on the Mexican Riviera and stay there for the duration of your trip. There is no way I would wander around on my own. Its a real shame because Mexico is a beautiful country with wonderful people/culture.

Cruises are one of the most cost effective vacations out there. Generally you get the cruise for less per night then you would spend at a hotel and all of your food is included in that cost (and most of your entertainment).

Las Vegas!! There's always deals to be had-- think deluxe accommodations for value prices! You can stay in the lap of luxury for not too bad-- once you're there, you can spend as little or as much money as you want.

From the Fort lauderdale airport to the cruise terminal is like a 10 minute taxi ride. Not a PITA by ANY stretch of the imagination.

Summer trip up to Niagara falls. Go over the border and stay in Canada. I went there a couple of years ago with my family of 6 and spent less than $1,000 for the whole week.
