I finally broke down and replaced my 5 year old computer with a shiny, new laptop, which I love.

I just loaded my Office Basic Edition on to it - the system has Windows XP. Here is my problem: I can access it if I go to the Start Menu and go to Programs. But, I can't create any Shortcuts - if I right click and hit New and then Shortcut and I Browse for the program, I can't find it. I also tried to create a Shortcut to AOL, but all I get is a file with all of the AOL contents in it.

I'm trying to download my resume and coverletter, which I e-mailed to myself from my previous computer, but when I go to download it, I can't find Microsoft Word to save it in!

HELP!!!!

did you restart your computer?

I didn't restart it after loading the program....I thought about that after the fact and was too frustrated to try it last night.

Gee...how dumb would that be if that was the cause of all the turmoil???

I still can't create the AOL shortcut though and AOL was on there from the very beginning.

The only thing it seems to be good for is viewing the new high bandwidth Disney website.
