Can someone please explain transfering PTS

we just got a BLV share. Our first DVC purchase. My cousin owns at BCV adn she told me the following.

you can transfer points to other people that own in a different DVC home resort than you and then have them book a room for you 11 m onths out. is that true

for example
i have 270 pts and transfer them to Mr X
Mr X has a home resort of Beach club
I want to stay there so i transfer my pts to him and he can book me a room 11 months out unlike me who can only book the beach club 6 months out

can we really do this? She wants to transfer pts to me b/c she wants to go to disney in Dec 09 and stay at BLV. THe only issue is we too are planning on going in Dec 09 and staing at our BLV and we are using our 09 pts and 10 pts for this trip.(whole family is going)

no.

transferred pts retain their home resort identity. if you transfer BLT pts out to someone with a BCV contract, your BLT pts are still only good at BLT until 7 months out.

OTOH, if you want to stay at BCV and you can find someone to transfer BCV pts to your account, you can use those BCV pts to book BCV at the 11 month window.

(there were reports years ago - 2005ish? - that transferred pts would lose their home resort identity as in your example but i haven't heard any examples of that happening since they upgraded their computers.)
