can someone please explain the pirates and princess party?

It's lots of fun! I went last spring when I was doing the college program, with my friend's family and her little sisters (2 and 4). Our favorite parts were...

1. It's less crowded and cooler than during the day, we walked on to many rides and had Dumbo to ourselves during the fireworks!

2. The stations for candy and beads are lots of fun! So is getting dressed up!

3. For younger kids, there are dance parties that offer more interaction with characters than you would usually experience during the day. We sat in Tomorrowland for 40 minutes so the girls could dance with Chip and Dale, and some other characters I forget. I have the best pictures! :goodvibes

4. I'm not even a big fireworks person...but the fireworks were sooo cool!

Hope that helps a bit!

Anyone else care to share their experience.

Is it like trick or treating around the park ? candy stations ? what
are these ?

ummm candy :yay:

We went twice last week :cloud9:

They have a special parade. It was awesome because Tink was in it. The fireworks are also special for the party. They were pretty cool towards the end.

When you enter you receive a small black pouch to hold your treasure in. You also get a map of the park with black x's on it. Those are the spots where you collect treasure. At each treasure spot you either got a beaded necklace or a few gems. My kids were not to impressed with the treasure so we only did a few then forgot about them.

There were lots of Characters out to meet and greet. There were characters when you first entered Main Street. Flounder and Sebastian danced with the kids by Ariel's Grotto. There were camels by Aladdin's carpet ride. Abu was out with the Aladdin gang. Minnie and Daisy were in Princesses dresses in Toon Town. Mickey, Pluto, Donald, and Goofy were in Pirate costumes in Tomorrow land, and the princesses were out with their princes around the carousel. We did learn thought that the princesses were only there with their princesses for a select amount of time and it wasn't very long. Lilo and Stitch dance with kids in a restaurant (can't remember the name of it). The princesses were in the Toon Town Tent, and Ariel was in her Grotto. So there were a LOT of great Character photo opportunities.

They have Cinderella's carriage all lit up so you can pose with it.

Other than that I just remember we took advantage of basically walking on any ride we wanted. That was really nice!

Ooh.. Some people really got into dressing up for the party. I saw many adults, kids, and entire families decked out in Pirate gear. Some of the costumes were amazing! There also a lot of moms in princesses gowns. I thought the costumes were so cool to see in the park.

Do you need to use a day on your hopper pass for this....or is this something totally seperate after you purchase tickets for PPP?

It is a separate ticket. Many people report that they can get into the MK at 4:00 with the P&PP ticket, although the official start time is 7.

You have to buy the tickets for the P&PP separately. I totally think it's worth the money, though. We went this year & last year & it's been the highlight of our trip. We always go to Disney with my mom & dad, so they take my DD & do something different with her (& put her to bed at a reasonable time), so it gives us an opportunity to do something with our boys.

The boys never really got into the collecting treasures aspect of the party, but we look at it as a time to ride (& ride & ride & ride . . .) all of their favorite rides without having to wait in long lines (or many times, no lines at all!) We also love the parade and fireworks too. It's just nice to be in the park with a very, very small crowd (at least in late January/early February).

Next year, when my DD is older & hopefully taller, we'll take her too, so she can enjoy all the fun too.

Is there a set number of tickets they sale for this event? Since we are going April 4 through the 12th I know it will be a busy time anyway. We just don't want to shell out the money if it still going to be considerably packed! Thanks....I am trying to get all of the answers so I can convince my hubby!

so once you purchase this P&PP ticket........& you only have a MYW pass (no park hopper).......& you spent the day at EPCOT, it doesn't matter?

You do not need a hopper - just the P&PP ticket. The party officially starts at 7, so it is possible that you would not be allowed in until that time without a hopper. Many people who have been before have said they could get in at 4 pm without using a park ticket - this seems to be true for P&PP as well as the Christmas and Halloween parties. If you try to get in before 4, you would probably need a hopper or need to use a day of admission if you had not been to a park that day. I'm not sure if Disney would confirm letting people in at 4 or if it is unofficial, but it has been widely reported on the boards (at least so far!).

I asked the CM some questions when I bought our tickets the other day.

You are allowed to enter as early as 4:00 and you'll get a wristband. It's a separate ticket event so you don't have to show (or even HAVE) a regular MYW ticket. They start funnelling non-PPP people out of the park around 6:00 (by things like not letting you get in line for rides or restaurants unless you have a wristband)

Does anyone know if they have face painting at the party? I thought I saw something about this but now I can't find it . . . If they do, is it free?(included in the price of the party ticket, I mean  )

EXPENSIVE!!
I booked some for the 11th April $46.81 adult $40.42 age 3 to 9 - but the CM said they are valid for park entry from 5pm and sometimes will be let in earlier.

These are the advance booking prices, if you buy on the day it is more, and they are limited, so of course may not be available on the day.

This is a great thread!! In all honesty, I've seen this mentioned several times and didn't think it was much more than a gathering with the princesses! With my DS and DD both 10 when we come this Aug., I had thought they would be too old for this, but from the descriptions of PP, I'm thinking maybe it would be fun?!
Any thoughts on this experience for 2 10 year olds?
And please detail the procedure a bit for me . . . . so if we go to MK on the day this PP party occurs and DON'T have the wristbands for this, we have to leave by 6:00?? So do they basically close the park early for this unless you are attending this event? Is it just one day of the week or more? This will make a big difference in our park planning. TIA!!

Pirate and Princess parties are on select nights only. Depending on when your vacation falls and how many days you're going to be at the MK, you might find yourself there during one, or two nights during the week (like they might hold a party on a Tuesday and Friday, or a Friday and Sunday). Not sure when you are going, but Disney just released dates through June, if that will better help you plan. This is a separate hard-ticket event, that runs from 7-12 at night. However, they start letting ticket holders for the parties in as early as 4 pm, and they get a wristband to identify that they are there for the party. If you are not staying for the party, at 7 pm, you will be asked to exit the park. Technically, you could hang around, but CM's will be checking wristbands, and you would not be able to ride any attractions, buy any merchandise in the stores, get served food at any CS places, and I've heard they even sometimes check wristbands before the parades/fireworks.

One of the best advantages to these types of parties, I think, is that they only sell a select number of tickets (about 30,000) so the park is not crowded at all, making it easy to get on attractions. And, since you can get in at 4 pm and stay until midnight, you could technically do this for one day and not use one of the days on a park hopper ticket. You get 8 hours in the park for around 45 dollars! The fireworks and parade at this pirate and princess party are also not to be missed.

To date, I've heard that no pirate and princess party has sold out, so if you find yourself in the park that day and don't want to leave and instead want to check out the party, just buy your tickets that day and stay for the fun!

Ok, forgive my earlier question, I didn't realize that this party occurs AFTER the park was closed :duh

I see they have dates past March posted on this site......I guess unless it is closer to your date of travel (or some other unknown factor) you can not purchase tickets yet. I just talked to a CM today, I got the impresion that the dates posted here WILL be available.......just not yet....at least not for me. They would post more dates around 45 before (I was looking for the May 2nd date)
