Can someone please explain ebates?

I don't wanna sound ridiculous but can someone explain to me how the ebates thing works? what's the catch/ commitment? Thanks!

You get cash back on purchases that you make starting through their website with different %s back depending on the stores that you make purchases from. You need to give them information including your e-mail address to register at their website. The cash back accrues and they either send you a check in the mail or credit your PayPal account every quarter. You have to accrue I think $10 before they will give you the $s back.

It's what I call a shop through site. It is like my points or sunshine rewards except you earn cash rebates through them. When you get ready to purchase something on line, after you sign up go through their site and you will earn %'s on what you buy.(rebates) I like it better than my points because you actually get cash back. There is nothing to it if you are online shopping anyway. You just go through them. The only problem I have had is that I can not get all the websites to work. I have the same problem with my points and sunshine. It has to do with settings on this computer. I did well this weekend using them though. I got back about $7 for shopping I was going to do anyway.

I used to use MyPoints but got tired of being jerked around for my points (My Points rarely credited the points without me emailing them, then they would make my points "pending" for months at a time so I couldn't get my gift cards ). Thanks to the DISboards, I've started shopping through Ebates instead.

You just register with Ebates, then whenever you shop online, you go to the Ebates site and click on the merchant you plan to shop with. Ebates will tell you what percent cash they will rebate back to you.

Once you build up to at least $5.00, they send you a check. It's very easy.

I do a fair amount of shopping online (dog food, florist, nutritional supplements, etc.) so I really like getting money back. You can still use coupon codes with Ebates, too.

I just checked and they do Disney Shopping. It is a 4% rebate.

It is one of the sites I cannot access though. You could try it. I've tried to get my hubby to change my settings but he hasn't yet. I am losing money.

I love this site and there is no "catch" or commitment. I figure that ebates must get paid for marketing and stats on who visits the shopping sites and what $ is spent. I don't care if my info is used for marketing as it already is at any store that has an affinity card. I have rarely found a store that's *not* on ebates and I also love that they post the current coupon codes. Just as an example, I buy my service dog a high quality dog food, Innova. To purchase it where I live takes a 30 minute drive since it's not sold in the usual pet stores. Instead I purchase through ebates at Pet Food Direct, use the 22% discount that PFD sends usually every 4-6 weeks to my email, and get cash back. Factoring my time and gas and the fact that PFD delivers to my doorstep, I'm saving money and time by shopping online even with paying for shipping. Now I'm waiting for the double cash-back rebates day and will have a shopping frenzy. ---Kathy

Don't forget, you can use coupon codes for a percent off or free shipping or both and still get the ebates cash back! This definitely sweetens the deals!!!Many times their site gives you the codes to use.
