can someone pay for a night for us as a gift using their pin code?

i'm sure you guys get so sick and tired of fielding these types of questions, so i appreciate your patience with me! when we stayed with them back in march, my mom and dad gave disney our email address instead of theirs since they have aol and always have email problems. today, i got the 40% off monster pin in my email. i excitedly called and was very rudely told, in an accusatory manner that i was using someone else's pin and that was not allowed, blah, blah, blah. well, i looked over the email again and realized it said at the top that it was for the "_____ family," my parents. i was so embarrassed. i had not even noticed that, because i was so excited to see something from disney destinations, i just clicked on the email and scrolled down to see what the offer was. i had totally forgotten that my parents had ever given them my addy because i've never received anything for them from disney since before our trip. that said... the man did not need to be so rude, he acted as though i knocked down some poor old lady and stole her pin code or something!

i had called because although we are already on a bb for 40% off, the bb dates only go through the night of the 16th and we want to stay as close as possible to the 20th, since that is my ds's bday and the purpose of our trip. without the 40% off, it is totally not doable because we'd pay rack rate plus holiday season, it is about twice the price. however... this monster code is 40% off good through the night of the 18th, which would be absolutely perfect for us.

my question is, if my parents wanted to make a separate reservation for us, in their name, with this pin code, for the night of the 17th, and put it on their cc, would disney allow it? as a gift for us from my parents? they would totally do it, they have already offered to pay for portions of the trip (such as airfare) and we have declined. if disney would allow it, i would take them up on this one!

I think the problem would be that the ressie needs to be in their name. If they are not going on the trip who will check in?

I'm sorry that the CM was rude but sometimes we need to realize they are human too. I work in a call center though I mainly handle email responses we get some real grumpies that call and email. I've had emails claiming that we have bad customer service because we won't use 2 promos for 1 purchase. Another was mad because she wore and washed the clothes she bought and the store wouldn't take them back because she no longer wanted them. I could go on and on. To some bad customer service means not getting it their way.

Its no excuse to be rude to you. Its just as easy to say in a nice voice "I'm sorry madam but that code is attached to a different name" and for him to apologize for the misunderstanding.

In my opinion if a pin code comes to your house or email you should be able to use it no matter whose name is attached to it (I always get pins for my niece sent to my email) Disney knows its my email, I go 2-3 times a year and always use that email. In 2004 my niece and her family met me and youngest DD at Disney. I might have made her ressies and I know I bought her MVMCP tickets. Ever since its my email and her name. Very frustrating.

Pin codes can only be used by who they are addressed to for their own vacation. I would guess due to the fact that not all families/travel parties fit in one room, the addressee is allowed to book up to 3 rooms with the discount, as long as the dates atleast overlap. So if they aren't there too, you wouldn't be able to use the discount. Also, since the discount is 40% off a room rate, it doesn't actually pay for anything so I don't see how they could pay one night with it. It is possible however for them to make a payment towards your vacation.
