I'm helping my son make a box to collect his valentines in. We're making an ipod. I wanted to see if someone could make a menu screen for it and the circle with the controls. Our ipod will be black just like the one in the picture. The circle on our box needs to be about 5 1/2 inches and the menu screen needs to be about 7 1/2 in. wide X 6 1/2 in. tall. Thank you very much.

I made them for you.

The dimensions for the screen are slightly different from your request. I took the dimensions from the screen in the picture you sent to make the screen.

If you want me to change the wording on the screen so that one reads valentines or something fun...just let me know.

It would be really cute if you could figure out a way to change the battery "fullness" so that he can start it on empty/low battery and then slowly bump it up to full as his "iPOD" fills up with valentines.

I know you have been doing some DISigning...I'm not sure if you are using photoshop elements or not but if you are...here are a few tips on how I made these.

For the circle. I made a regular circle measuring 5.5 inches per your request using the eliptical marquee tool and set it to "fixed aspect ratio" for the height and width to 5.5 inches. Then I used the paint bucket tool to fill it in with black. Next, I highlighted the circle went to "layer styles" then "wow chrome" and used the "wow chrome shiny edge" to give it a 3-d shiny effect like iPods have. Then I had to add the small black circle, writing and images, so I cut and moved the circle from the image that you provided, increased the size and placed it over the chrome circle I made. Then I looked online to find what font the iPod uses...there were two mentioned and I used the free one that I could find called Myriad. Then I placed a black round circle over the smaller circle making sure it was the same size and placed the writing and arrows over the letters in the exact place. Once I was happy I deleted the template that I used for placement of fonts and icons from your picture. I got the triangles from the custom shape tools in photoshop.

I pretty much did the same thing for the screen but used a rectangle with rounded edges. After I got everything layered on...I flattened the image and used a "simple inner beveled edge" in the "layer styles" to give it a 3-d look.

If you are using PSE I hope that made some sense.

Dolly, These worked perfectly. We worked on his box last night and finished it. He is so proud of it. I couldn't figure out how to make the battery change but we did make it play music. :cool1: We bought a musical greeting card and took it apart. Now when you push it, it plays a song.

Yeah...that turned out so great!!! Thanks for posting pics. He looks so happy. AND I LOOOOOVE that you figured out how to make it play music. I would have never thought of that. Now I want to make one! What did you use for the black round circle in the middle of the big circle?

I found a card that you had to actually push a button to make it play music. Most of the other ones played when you opened them. When I took the card apart the sound was inside a little plastic circle.....perfect size and shape. :) I just covered it black wrapping paper. The box is a large box of cereal.

I cut a hole in the back for that. I didn't want to take away from the ipod design. We're trying to figure out a way to make headphones now. :rotfl:

You could always use the real thing...unless you want oversize ones to match the box. If you make them...post another picture!

Also, you need an apple icon for the back to make the back look like the real one. I added the icons and put them in my photobucket in case you wanted to add them to the back of the iPod. I made them chrome like the dial so that they would match. (I didn't make the 20GB and fine print at the bottom.)

For the battery. I think you could cut two slits on the top and bottom of the battery and one on the left side, then slide a piece of black paper much larger than the battery in over the cut out and use your finger to slide it back and forth. You would have to do this before you attached the screen. You could make a small pocket on the backside of the screen to keep it from sliding out of place and loosing it behind the screen. I'm not sure if that makes sense. Of course that is an extra that really isn't necessary.

Cute idea!! I just put the Apple on the back and it looks great. :thumbsup2For the headphones, we're trying to make them oversized. I think we've found some rope to use. We're going to cover it in white tape. But the earphones are what we're having trouble figuring out. Oh well, we have until February 11th to get it finished.
