We are planning to spend 3 days/2 nights at Universal on site in September. It's me, my DH and 2 kids (both over 9).

So in my research, it looks like an AP gives us a hotel discount and ticket discount. So I was thinking of purchasing one AP then using for discounts. However when I go online and enter APH code into the hotel reservation system I'm not seeing any discount. Am I doing something wrong or are there times when seasonal rate is lower an AP rate?

I'm planning on purchasing the park to park 3 day for price of 2 days. Looks like online the price is $175.99. So if I purchase the AP, can I buy the tickets online with AP discount or does it have to be purchased on site. Also what is the ticket discount percentage with AP?

Does the AP include food discount? If so what's the percentage discount?

Last, what type of AP do I have to purchase to get ticket, hotel and good discount?

I'm just trying to account all the variables and figure out the best deal for my family.

Thanks!!

Hi kim_d,

We are planning to spend 3 days/2 nights at Universal on site in September. It's me, my DH and 2 kids (both over 9). They're at great ages to enjoy Universal. Welcome! :)

There can be many reasons that you're not seeing rates. It's possible that they're not loaded in the system yet. It's also possible that rates are sold out. You can also contact rooms-only at 1-800-232-7827 and they can explore options for you. By the way, when are you planning to visit?

I'm planning on purchasing the park to park 3 day for price of 2 days. Looks like online the price is $175.99. So if I purchase the AP, can I buy the tickets online with AP discount or does it have to be purchased on site. Also what is the ticket discount percentage with AP? Power Passholders get a 10% discount on multi-day ticket. Preferred and Premier Passholders get a 15% discount on multi-day ticket. Multi-day tickets are 2, 3 or 4 days. Also, as the 2-Day park-to-park with the 3rd day free is a multi-day ticket, there's no additional discount on this promotion. Universal takes 10 or 15% off of the gate price. i.e. A 2-Day Park-to-Park ticket is $195.99 at the gate. They take 10 or 15% discount off of that price. These can be purchased either at the gate or over the phone at 1-866-PASS-4-FUN.

Does the AP include food discount? If so what's the percentage discount? The Power Pass now includes a 10% Discount on food at participating restaurants in CityWalk. The Preferred and Premier Passes offer a 10 - 20% discount on food in the CityWalk and inside of the parks.

Last, what type of AP do I have to purchase to get ticket, hotel and good discount? The Power, Preferred and Premier Passes offer an up to 30% Discount at the deluxe on-site hotels: Loews Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific. Staying at these three hotels, Guests get Universal Express Unlimited passes to shorten their wait times at most attractions, rides and shows at both Universal and Islands of Adventures. In addition, you get early park admission into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The same passes offer an up to 25% Discount at the Cabana Bay Beach Resort. When you stay at the Cabana Bay Beach Resort, you get early park admission into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

I'm just trying to account all the variables and figure out the best deal for my family. Absolutely! I can understand :)

Thanks!! Glad to help. Please let me know if you have any questions :)

I posted my responses in brown and bold for you :)

what are your dates?
the ap rates are not out yet for some of the months.

when the ap rates have been released, book the room then.
or, you can book now and modify your room rate when the ap rates for your dates come out.

if all the allocated rooms for the ap discount is booked up, you won't be able to
use the ap for your trip.

AAA is another rate UO allows.

the SMSM requires a 3 night stay for that general code for discounted rooms.

never mind my first question, reread and see your trip is not until september.
no ap rates are out at this time for the fall.
