Okay...

We are doing Six Nights at the Contemporary during Value season:

Feb 7-13 (all days are in value season ;))

Rate $270 x 6 nights = $1,620

Park Tickets:
5 day hoppers
2 adults
3 children

$276 x 2 = $552
$238 x 3 = $714 total = $1,266

Meal Plan
Two Adults $37 x 2 = $74
Three Children $10 x 3 = $30
$104 dollars x 6 days = $624

Grand Total before tax $3510...

The reservation CM quoted me $4070...

:scared1:    :scared1:

I know taxes are high - but $500 high?

No Insurance is included (he confirmed that for me).

Thoughts?

I read on another post that rates are calculated by weekday vs. weekend. Also, the dining plan probably went up a little.

OK, here's what I come up with:

6 nights at Conemporary Standard View, 2 adults, 3 children

Room: $270 X 6 = 1620 plus 202.50 tax = $1822.50
Dining Plan: $37.99 X 2 ad = $75.98 x 6 = $455.88
Dining Plan: $9.99 x 3 ch = $29.97 X 6 = $179.82
Tickets: $276.90 (with tax) x 2 ad = $553.80
Tickets: $238.56 (with tax) x 3 ch = $715.68

For a grand total of - $3727.68

I cannot figure out what the extra $342.32 is. Maybe they added trip insurance. But I think that would only be $200. You should really ask them if they can break down the room rate or anything for you. I'm not sure, what it is for.

Thanks Schwaa...

I just did the package online - and they quoted me the same amount...

Weird!

I'm waiting for the e-mail confirmation to see if they added insurance (but he confirmed for me twice that it was not included).

Anyone know how long it typically takes to get the e-mail confirmation?

Ok really weird. When I put in on wdw website, it comes up $4070. I don't know what we are doing wrong.

Aha. When I do a room only ressie, it comes up as $320 a night. That's $300 extra plus tax. That equals: $337.50. I guess I'm close enough there.

Now the real question is: why is garden view garden room $320 a night during that time???

Ok that's it. It's not a standard view that they are quoting you. It's a garden view. (Duh, I just typed that).

Problem solved!
(it shows no availability for standard view)

Okay - Thanks, Schwaa... Now I get it...

Now, some major decisions - like maybe we should just switch resorts instead of paying that much for a room each night...

Speaking of which - how much of a hassle is it to switch resorts? Can they do that, or do they cancel the whole package and start over? What happens to the deposit?

We have also tried to book a standard at CR 4-12th Jan and no availability in a standard room. I tried all the dates (individually)for Jan(didn't try Feb) no availability:confused:
Where have all the standard rooms gone. I wonder if they have reclassified the standard to garden view and now there is no standard view??
We too had to think if it was worth paying the extra dollars for a garden room.
I will keep checking to see if a standard room comes up, just in case, maybe they have put the standard rooms on hold for conferences etc

Good luck and have fun:upsidedow

They should just modify the existing reservation and keep the deposit there. It shouldn't be any hassle at all.

i just wanted to add this: It looks like you really have your heart set on the Contemporary. You should figure out if you can pay $350 more to stay there or not. Otherwise the Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge would be substantially cheaper. Even cheaper would be Port Orleans Riverside (which is my favorite resort and I highly recommend).

Good luck with the decisions.
