Can someone help me with my car rental dilemma?

Our plane is scheduled to land at 11:20 p.m. at MCO on 3/18. We're spending the night in a hotel near the airport. We'll need a car for the next day to get to Jacksonville for the supercross races. We'll be driving back to Orlando on 3/20 so that we can spend a few days at Disney. Should we pick up the car when we get there that night, or should we take the hotel shuttle and then pick up the car in the morning? I don't really want to jack up the price of my rental just to have it sit in the hotel parking lot. Also, when I look into getting a rental from 8 a.m. saturday to noon sunday, the price seems like a lot. With taxes, close to $90! What am I doing wrong? Would love some opinions please.

Thank you!!!

Maybe look into one of the companies that will pick you up at your hotel and bring you to get the car. No need to go back to the airport...

I guess it depends on how you would get to your hotel and back to the airport. The cost of two cabs will probably be the same as the cost of having the car the extra time and then you can get up and go on 3/19.

If the hotel has free airport shuttle then it becomes a case of convenience vs. saving $$.

Have you tried carrentals.com and/or mousesavers.com?

If you can to and from the Hotel by shuttle, I would do that instead of paying more to rent the car. As for $90 for Sat and Sun, that's a good deal...I'm picking up my car Thursday after noon and returning it on Friday and I paid $131.....

I'm somewhat confused. Are you talking about two different rental periods (3/18-3/20 & "8 a.m. saturday to noon sunday"??? The later would be billed as two days, I am quite sure.

Prices can vary depending on what day you pick up the car, too. Check different companies as well as different pick up / drop off days and times.

Sometimes picking it up the night before can mean the difference between a weekly rate and four days of daily rates.
