Can someone help me out here.........

We recently got cable tv & whilst watching one of the news programs, we noticed that they give the time, but what I need to know is what it all means.

Like this........

PT..........I think means Pacific Time for California

CT...........dunno, but I wonder if it means Central Time for whatever region


Then there is.......

MT.............. DUNNO THAT ONE EITHER & HAVE NO IDEA.........

ET.................I THINK MIGHT BE EASTERN TIME FOR NEW YORK.


Are any of my guesses right? And what do the others stand for??

Hi Nutsy from the ET in Ohio. I hate to break this to you but some small parts of some states don't switch from Daylight Savings time to ...what is that other one called, standard time. I think. Surely someone will correct me if I am wrong.

As I understand it, Arizona and part of Michigan or something like that don't switch so they are in two different time zones half the year.

The govt. here instituted Daylight savings, where we all fall back an hour about the end of October and then go back to standard time in April. It is confusing and a pain in the butt.

Anyway. If you watch TV too it is weird. ET is one hour ahead of CT. Mountain is in the same frame as CT I think and PT is one hour later than that. So...live broadcasts are either delayed for the west coast or come on very early for the East cost. I have lived in 3 of the 4 time zones and still am very confused.

My parts of Indiana doesn't switch. 6 months we are in ET, and the other we are in CT. It's confusing when dealing with people from elsewhere like all of you.

Hi all you guys

From Queensland time......

We have daylight saving time here too, but Queensland don't participate. Haven't done so for years. So we are an hour behind New South Wales & Victoria & not sure about the rest of Oz. Not sure how many other states have daylight saving time.
