Why do you think people post to rent their points before anwering posts that are looking for points to rent?

Is it a trust thing?

I posted a few days ago, looking for a BCV reservation in June. It is for my friend. I have bumped it once, and am going to have to bump it again.

In the meantime, people post that they have points to rent. By the time I read the post, they already have numerous replies, and since I need 134 points, I am sure there would not be enough after all the other replies.

Today, I notice someone needed points for a reservation, and they have had to politely bump their post.

There seems to be a feeding frenzy on posts that have points to rent, yet those if us looking for points, are ignored.

I wonder why? :confused3

I don't know the perfect answer for this but I think one reason is because a lot of owners that reply to "points wanted" threads find themselves in a situation where the person looking for points has been contacted by multiple owners and feels they can start bargaining or makes arrangements to rent from one responder but never tells the others. It can be frustrating to sit on hold with member services to check dates and then find out it was all in vain.

If you were an owner, which would you do

1) Send a note to somebody asking if they still need points? Then track down the next guy to use up any remaining points, etc. or

2) Put your own post out and attract a feeding frenzy of people begging for your points.

I am an owner, I would 1st look to answer an ad looking for the points.

I would not want a feeding frenzy, because my points could only go so far, then I would have to let everyone else know they are gone.

I think if you went through the process of renting points you might feel differently. Your chances of success are much better when you have advertised what you have and people are contacting you. I have never rented points, but I do a fair amount of eBay buying and selling and I have never found much use in looking for an item wanted listing to match my item for sale.

I Have Rented Points Before And Contacted People Who Wanted A Reservation. It Worked Out Well For Me. I Wish You Luck!!! Keep Bumping!!!

Just a guess but maybe it's because at this point in time, only those with BCV points can help you. Owners at other resorts cannot make a June reservation at BCV for a few more weeks, and even then, it's not easy getting a BCV reservation at 7 months.

Beachclub is one of the hardest resort to get a reservation into. Right now only a BeachClub owner can help you. If you will look at the posts for rentals you may see that it is other resort owners posting. At the 7 month window another owner can help you and that is if there is availability at Beachclub. If a BC owner should post that he or she has points to rent, I am sure they are grapped quickly. I have rented to others several times and I have NEVER been able to get BC. I am in the process of buying BC now because I want to stay there and I need the owner advantage of the 11 month window to stay there. I am sure that trust has nothing to do with it. IF you would like another resort be flexible and I am sure that you will get a response.
