Can someone give us some quick help? RE: JFK

This isn't Disney related, but we have a delayed flight going into JFK, landing at Terminal 2.

Our connecting flight to Rome leaves at Terminal 1.

Will we need to exit and go through Security again? I know our bags will be checked all the way through, but I'm just wondering how much we need to run when we land.

Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 don't connect so you will have to switch terminals and go through security again. What airline are you flying?
