I'm not sure I'd pay $800 extra...for us it will only be $280 extra. I can tell you why we're choosing one over the other, but since I haven't yet stayed at WL, all of these could turn out to be "that was so not worth it!"

And all of these things are subjective desirables...you may not care about any of them.
We liked POFQ a lot. But what we feel WL improves on the experience is:
**Location -- very pretty resort, gorgeous scenery (beach, lake, woods, etc), and a very quick ride to MK
**Noise -- since doors open to the outside and beds are so close to the door, we had a lot of noise at POFQ. Not as bad as with our Pop stay, but still not ideal.
**Inside rooms -- back to this, I like the idea of not having to walk outside to go to the stores/get food, drinks/front desk. At POFQ if it's raining, you'll have to cover up as best you can to move between buildings.
**Balcony -- love the idea of sitting on the balcony in the mornings/evening
**Restaurants -- 2 sit down and one quick service at WL, plus room service (a big one for us)
**Bed Sizes -- DH and I simply cannot share a full-size bed without wacking each other during the night. At POFQ you can pay for a king-size/preferred room, but you may still arrive and find that they have been given away (as we witness ourselves). At WL we know we'll either get a Queen or King size bed.
**Pool -- the WL is so pretty. I'm not normally a big swimmer when at WDW, but WL pools makes me want to visit, even if it's just to sit at a table and enjoy the view.
**Boat rentals -- I don't know that we'll have time to do these, but I love the quick access to boat rentals
**Easy access to Ft. Wilderness -- we're thinking about doing the campfire/movie thing at Ft. Wilderness, and anyone else can tell you that getting to Ft. Wilderness without a car can be a big pain in the rear. From WL it's easy
But bottom line, for us it's the ambiance. POFQ was pretty and pleasant, but WL is just so lovely on many levels (well, not the rooms, can't stand the look of the furniture and bedspreads, but POFQ doesn't win any kudos there either

). But honestly, if your hotel just needs to be clean, safe and a good place to sleep, and you really don't think you'll spend much time at the hotel, I wouldn't spend the money. As much as I LOVE the parks, they are exhausting and my hotel makes all the difference in helping me relax afterwards.
I will say this. While I did like POFQ, if I was going to spend that much money I'd use one of the Swan/Dolphin discounts and pay a skosh more to stay there. You get a bigger room, better bed, more amenities, right near the Boardwalk, and very close to Epcot. Just my two cents.
