OK, I have never stayed concierge and was thinking about upgrading...can you tell me is it worth the money and what are the added benifits??? What is turn down service???(I know your thinking...what a stuoid question...lol) Can you convince me it is worth the money???

ETA: Do they have handicapped rooms on concierge level??? TIA!!

cra-z-4-disney,

With concierge level you get extra service. You also get food offerings throughout the day. You are usually on a floor that needs special key access. There is a spread for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and evening cordials. Once you book concierge, you should be contacted by the concierge staff to help with the plannng of your PS's. They are also there to help you with any special occasions or special needs you may have. Turndown service is automatic with concierge and is done by mousekeeping. Sometime in the late afternoon or early evening mosuekeeping will come and turn the bed down for the evening. They leave the traditional chocolates on the pillow. My kids have usually taken a nap in the afternoon and messed up the bed. Mosuekeeping will also make up the bed again if it needs it and will do a light cleaning and replenish towels, etc. I am not sure if they have handicapped rooms on concierge level. I think concierge service is worth the $$. We have always had wonderful service there at Wilderness Lodge. I have always liked the special attention we get when we are there. :flower:

There is no "spread" for breakfast lunch and dinner. Please don't lead people to believe that staying concierge is a meal plan, it's not. Rather you are paying for an upgraded level of service.

There is a continental breakast with cereal, muffins, toast, fresh fruit, etc.

There are a few snacks like Goldfish, pretzels, and gummy worms at lunch.

There are some appetizers at dinner, usually one hot appetizer (NOT ENTREE!) with cheese and crakers and beer/wine.

After dinner there are deserts and cordials.

The WL was not one of our favorite CL's. It was more like concierge light. The CM's were pleasant, but we didn't feel that there was any service over and above what we would have gotten at any deluxe, and the food offerings weren't anything special. It was OK, but I would rather have spent a little more money and stayed someplace where there actually was a lounge, WL was an afterthought and it was evident.

Back to the OP, if you are willing to pay for extra "SERVICE" then concierge might be for you. But it's not a food plan, and you won't save money by staying CL. And yes, there are accessible rooms.

I can't comment on whether concierge service is worth the money. There are many intangibles that you just can't put a price tag on. Basically it's a higher level of service with some nice daily snacks thrown in :flower: . In most cases, you're not getting a bigger room, you're not getting better shampoo or conditionar than anyone else. On the plus side, you work with a pre-planning CM who can basically take care of your entire vacation with one e-mail as opposed to you having to make multiple phone calls to possibly multiple departments. Private check-in is available at most concierge levels, you're on a secure floor or building and CM's are on duty daily from 7am-10pm to assist with any last minute needs.

Turndown service is a feature available at all Disney deluxe resorts. In the early evening, a member of housekeeping will come in and turn down your sheets, replenish any towels or toiletries that you used during the day, maybe leave the tv or radio and a light turned on for your return. In the concierge level, it's automatic, but any deluxe resort guest can request it by simply calling housekeeping and making the arrangements. I believe the same is true for newspaper delivery, which is automatic for concierge, but can be requested by others.

ducklite,

I wasn't trying to mislead anyone. I'm sorry if I did. I did't mean to convey that it was a meal plan, because I certainly don't believe it is. I guess what I should have said is there are lite food offerings in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Have done conceirge at CR and WL. If you have never done it and get a good rate its worth it once. The room views and locations are no better, rooms are the same size as standards, foods are just lite snacks, having someone make reservations doesn't guarnteed a seat, but we make our own anyway. Turndown service, someone to come in and flip down the bedspread and leave 10 cents worth of chocolate and all the above is not worth the extra money. You feel no different at this level than at standard room requests. Unless you're a constant busy body and need all your questions answered the concerige is just about useless. Anything you may need for your room comes from mousekeeping and they service all romms at the resort. This is no special care, concideration or benefits worth what they charge, your stay will be just as nice and pleasant at regular standard views. But like I said, if you get a good rate, have never done it, Disney is the place to give it a try once and then be the judge for yourself!

Another perk that I rarely see mentioned that we loved was package delivery to your room. No heading off to the giftshop with the receipt, packages were on our bed waiting for us!

I think that considering the lounge and food offering as a big factor in deciding on concierge is a mistake because if you're like us, you're never around the resort much during the day. We really only went to the lounge the morning for coffee and pastries and before heading out for dinner to see what PS we could get if we didn't have one already, so we didn't partake in the offerings as not to spoil our meal. Was it "worth it" for us? You betcha!!!! The service was impeccable and the upgraded feel to our trip made it very special. Good luck with whatever you decide!!

We have stayed at the Yacht Club concierge and we liked the continental breakfast and fruit. Snack at lunch was basically tortilla chips, salsa, cookies, soda, etc. Desserts and cordials were fine at night. I find it interesting that Disney has created a whole new level of service when it comes to the rooms, by decreasing the service in all of the other rooms. It used to be that turn down service with chocolates on the pillow were what every room got in the evening. Now it is on request. The price difference is quite significant as well. I have paid $35 for an upgrade to concierge in some Hilton Hotels on check in and the concierge room eliminated the need for dinner. Several hot and cold dishes, plus the standard concierge snacks, drinks, desserts and cordials.

Concierge level was much more than was desribed by Ducklite, at GF. I also think it was worth it at Yacht Club, BW, Poly, and CR. I have never stayed in AKL concierge or WL concierge, but will this July/August.

Yes, I was specifically directing my comments to the WL. I've stayed CL at every other WDW resort as well, and WL offered the least "bang for the buck", although I prefered them to GF Lodge Concierge which was absolutely fraught with problems.

I didn't take your comment as saying they offered a meal plan, I knew what you meant! :flower:

Just what is this secure floor or building secure from? Other WL guests? I've stayed at WL a couple of times, but never concierge. I never saw any security threats that I knew of, unless maybe concierge guests consider me to be a security threat. :rotfl:

We just returned from 8 days at WL concierge and LOVED. It definately was worth the money for us. We had some special circumstances that I won't get into here, but if we had not been on concierge, I know we wouldn't have been treated like kings and queens! (circumstances had to do with ALL of us being dreadfully sick during part of our stay....I ended up in ER for 7 hours getting IV fuilds)

The breakfast is GREAT. We are not big breakfast eaters, so it was perfect. The croissants were melt-in-your-mouth delicious and HUGE> So were the muffins. DS5 has to have chocolate milk and this was brought up for us several times a day. (it's like $1.99 at roaring forks!). Other selections were bagels and cream cheese, English muffins, little boxes of cereal, hot water for oatmeal, and of course drink selections.

Middle of the day IS just snacky stuff..... gummy worms, mixed nuts, pretzels, etc. and beverages.

Dinner time was always a GREAT hearty soup, several cheeses and crackers, fresh fruits, fresh veggies and dip, delicious bread, and a hot ENTREE.... at least when we were there.....one night was roasted chicken with red peppers and penne pasta in a light red sauce, another night was beef stroganoff, etc. I can't remember all of them, but they were not appetizers.

Desserts included huge cookies, Magic Cookie Bars ($2.25 at roaring forks), warm fruit cobbler, warm apple crisp, forsted brownies to die for, little cheesecakes, several wines, Bailey's Irish Cream, Kaluha and milk, etc.

We have always found the CM's there to be fabulous and the food selections to be outstanding. We have also tried Yacht Club Concierge and were VERY disaapointed in it (this was several years ago). And Poly Concierge, which we liked very much.

WL concierge is all on the 7th floor and is accessed by sticking your room key into a slot in the elevator. This is the only way the elevator will go to the 7th floor.

For us, WL concierge is always worth it. We also had a fabulous MK view! I'd say go for it, but it's just my opinion!

Does WL concierge serve beer?

I realize that WLC has less than the poly, but it also costs less. Does that make up for it?

C'mon John, you know the ones I mean, those pool hopping, reusable mug, squeezing all family members into one room people :rotfl: .

I really enjoyed the concierge service at WL. It was so great for some of your party to go down and grab some breakfast in the morning while others are getting ready. This was so convenient with our five year old. We were able to get breakfast and get to the parks early. It was nice to have a snack when we returned to rest. If you can afford the service I would definately give it a try. PS--I thought the food was pretty good.

Yes WL Concierge does have beer. I remember seeing Heineken because of the green bottles. Not sure what else. Don't really drink!
