Hi,

Could you explain when Spring Break runs in 2006. It seems to different across the US.

Does this mean that WDW is busier across that whole period or is it a certain time of Spring Break.

I'm visiting last week feb-first week march and would just like to know what to expect.

Thanks a lot.

Spring Break is a few weeks long park wise. It is usually from middle March to April.

Hello acrossed the Pond!!! The way the spring break runs, usually, is about the second week of March through the first of April. That is from when I was in college, but expect heavier crowds even in the first week in March due to some schools having an early break and there is also a gathering just prior to sb called Bike Week. It is where a bunch of Harley Davison owners get together in Daytona, FL about the same time you will be going. Now I am not sure how much time they spend at WDW, but it is just FYI.
Have a great trip!!

Eric

Spring break does vary across the country. I am from New England and NE schools typically have two vacations, one that starts during president's day (feb 19 this year) and and the other in mid April. (Colleges/Univ in NE actually have a March or April break). I have always tried to go on vacation before that period to avoid crowds, but have been on break. during the last week of feb into early March and the crowds do increase a bit at WDW during President's week, but nothing like it is in the summer and thanksgiving and Christmas, when crowds peak. You might notice that Disney increases their room rates to peak on Feb 17, which I suspect reflects the increase in demands for rooms/park attendance. We love this time of year, and if you follow some of the great tips in Birnbaum's for how to get around the parks you might avoid some crowds. Even though we try to go on off season, the last time we were at WDW, we were sandwiched into AK on an extra magic hour morning and left at noon due to crowds. The next day we went to MK and started in Frontierland during EMH and rode Splash Mtn, BTR and Pirates over and over again with no lines. This was the second week in feb! Hope this helps. Have a super time!

Spring Break for college students doesn't much affect WDW, they head for the beach or the mountains. WDW is more affected by primary and secondary school children's Spring Breaks.

The US doesn't have a national school calendar. States require a certain number of instructional days, and local districts are free to allocate those any way they like. Not every school or district has spring break, but if they do they can have it any time they like, and it usually lasts a week. Some places also have "winter break" or "fall break"; it is all up to the local authority.

As others have said, mid-March through April are the most common times for Spring Break, with the week prior to Easter being the most popular of all.

So, are we saying the last week in feb, first in march aint too bad. I've only ever been in November/Early December.

Shouldn't be bad at all.

Easter is April 16 in 2006--and the week before that and after would be a VERY busy time.

Many schools schedule Spring Break to be the week before or the week after Easter...so that tends to be busier than other times.

I disagree that college spring breaks don't impact Disney - its a very popular place for college Spring Breakers - sometimes just for a day from Ft. Lauderdale - sometimes for a week for those that don't want a huge college party on a beach in Mexico.
