Ok, this may sound like a really dumb question, but with the DVC, are you buying a piece of property on Disney, or is it more like a huge discount you would get on hotel rooms? And, also, if it is a property (or is it a time share) that you do get, do you share it with others? Can someone set me straight??

I may be wrong but I think it is like a timeshare at one of several designated Disney properties.

The easiest thing is to point you to the DVC FAQ over on the DVC board. But to briefly answer your questions...

Yes, DVC is the timeshare offering of Disney. It differs from the more traditional timeshares in that when you purchase an interest in a DVC property (5 at present, a 6th under construction, a 7th just announced) you acquire a certain number of points which can be used for a variety of accomodations (studio to 3-BR Grand Villas) at any point during the year. You're not locked in to one fixed week per year. It's that flexibility which appeals to many DVC owners.

You might want to check out the FAQ and then come back if you have more specific questions. From a previous thread, there are a large number of Canadian DVC owners who frequent this board and would be happy to answer any questions.
