If I do the online checkin for our flight tomorrow, will I need to print out something that I need to take to the airport? If I do this, what do I need to do at the airport?

I suspect you'll need to print out boarding passes.
At least for Delta, online checkin is only for people who aren't checking any luggage, rather they only have carryon luggage.

Thanks, erikthewise! I guess that wouldn't work for us. We're three generations of women/girls with 6 bags!LOL

Yeah, I didn't quite understand online check-in either so thanks for the explanation. How about check-in kiosks? Can you check luggage? How does that work?

Don't worry. The process is simple and if you can read and follow directions, you shouldn't have a problem. The only time I saw someone have a problem, it was obvious that his real problem was that neither English nor Spanish was his first language.

There should be an airline employee nearby to help you through the process (really to keep the lines moving, LOL).

I have used AW & NWA kiosks/ e-check in terminals. You can check luggage when you use those. You just get in a special line after you complete the kiosk process. It's always gone very quickly for us.

Enjoy your trip!

I have no idea about this subject but I just wanted to tell you to have a great trip!!!! I'm so jealous! Have a great time and be sure to post a trip report when you get back!

The checkin kiosks are great and so very easy to use. As opposed to standing in line forever you walk up to a machine that looks sort of like an ATM. You put in a major credit card. You are not billed for anything, and it doesn't have to be the card you used to purchase the ticket. They only use the card to check your identity. Then the machine asks you questions (have you left you bags unattended, did anyone ask you to carry anything...the normal security questions) then it asks you how many bags you are checking. It is all touch screen and so very simple. It prints out the boarding pass, and you walk up to a special line for checking your bags. They weigh them and you may have to show the person your license along with the boarding pass (extra security). The kiosk will not bypass your getting randomly chosen for having your checked baggage security checked. The machine will not give you a boarding pass, and ask you to step up to the kiosk baggage check line for the quick security check, and then they give you the boarding pass. I have used this on both Delta and ATA. I am sure the other airlines have similar machines.

We flew Continental this month to MCO.
As we were walking up to the counter a Continental person was there and checked us in immediately in the side scanner area. It was incredibly smooth! :)
Looked a lot like a self cashier area at a grocery store.
DH just had to swipe the machine using any card with a magnetic strip. He just grabbed his credit card, and both of our names showed on the screen, he entered the quantity of our luggage to check, and two boarding tickets printed out. :) (I was wondering if our WDW AP's would have worked as well -- they have magnetic strips!)
We carried our luggage to the counter. In and out in no time!
We even went to the counter at the gate and was told we didn't have to check in there. We showed our ID's as we were actually boarding the plane.
Great service!

I just enter my FF # and PIN and then they print the boarding passes for kiosk check-in. Some airports allow luggage to be checked with the kiosk and some don't (such as Reagan National)

Online checkin, you just log in with your FF# and PIN and go to your itineraries and it will tell you whether you can check-in online or not. No checked luggage is allowed, and if there are any delays or possibility that you won't make your connection, you can not check in online.

I just spent most of thursday in Atlanta's airport going to Norfolk, VA, and most of Friday in Atlanta's airport coming home. The online and kiosk check-in saved me some significant time in the check-in line both directions, but the delays killed any time I saved :-)
