I have been a DVC member for 20 yrs and I have never used a cash reservation. I don't even know how or where to begin. We used up all of our points for 24 and most for 25 , so I'm wondering if a cash reservation would be a way to go. We used our points to go to Japan which was amazing!! Thanks for your patience and kindness it's appreciated. We own at BCV but are thinking of going to Calif in 25.

Thank you. Can I book with a cash reservation if I don't have many points left in 2025 ??

Yes, cash reservations don't take into consideration points whatsoever.

For what it is worth, you can also book directly on Disneyland's site (they just released 2025 rates) -- I'm not sure if the non-DVC rooms at Disneyland Hotel or Pixar Place would be cheaper than what DVC has available. By default I'm assuming Grand Cal won't have any cash availability through DVC.

The DVC discount is usually 25% off the posted rack rate. Sometimes there's 'specials' offered on the WDW website that are better than 25% off.

FYI---- I've tried to book a cash reservation several times in the past few years when there was no availability to book with points-------- and there was never any cash availability either. I was told that's usually the case.

OP is looking for DLR not WDW. They rarely have discounts on cash rooms....or at least not nearly as often as WDW.

Booking a DVC "Cash" room is probably going to cost you more than booking a regular cash room at the same resort. You can certainly call MS and get a quote and just look on-line to compare what the costs are for regular cash rooms. You certainly won't save money booking a DVC "cash" room.

I would say yes if you are looking at studios vs a regular room but if you are in 1 bedroom land there really aren't that many alternatives so the DVC Discount if available would save money in that case..

We recently did this with RIV. We did receive quite a discount but then we were shocked that the AP discount was more than the DVC one through member services.

If you want to book one through DVC you have to call and ask for inventory and cost. There is nowhere to look online.
Is this different than just booking a villa as a room type on the Disney World website? For example, if I booked a "1 Bedroom Villa - Standard View" at AKL-Kidani for cash using the website, I could potentially get a better deal by calling as a DVC member? (DVC-Y if that makes a difference.)

Just that Member services usually has a little more inventory and sometimes has more discounts that appear online.

You could certainly book it online but I personally would call.

You have to watch the discounts. When a discount comes out for booking on the Disney World website, maybe it will include the resort and room type that you want, and maybe it won't. If it does, it could be a bigger discount than what you would get if you make a cash reservation by calling DVC Member Services.

The regular website is only giving 20% off right now during the dates I’m looking at but the DVC site is advertising 40% off.

Unfortunately the DVC site doesn’t show prices and you have to call.
