Can someone explain bounceback offers to me?

Last year in our POR room was a bounceback offer. We didn't book it and of course now I'm kicking myself!!!! Anyway, in case there is a bounceback offer this time (yeah in Sept but you can never know too early LOL!), do you have to book your trip within the year? Lets say we go Sept 2012, and want to return November 2013 can we or does it have to be before Sept 2012?

I am going crazy waiting for an offer so I can book my trip and countdown and hoping there is a bounceback offer so I don't have to go nuts next year LOL!

The majority of the time, yes, you have to bounce back the same year as your current trip..(going in 2012, bouncing back in 2012.) Though I have heard of some cases(can't say as to them being rare or not) that you can extend upto a year of your travels(ex. current trip Sept. 2012, you can bounce back up to Sept. 2013).

Well usually the BB that is offered in September is to be able to book FD during the FD dates for the next year, like this from 2011 posted by jgraney106 for dates in 2012:

It runs from 8/17 thru 9/27/2012. Quick service for values and regular dining for the moderates. Be on the look out for this in your room.
Looks like maybe general public will maybe eventually get this . Lets hope!
The lady at the reservations said it was first placed in the rooms on 8/8/2011.

So based on what they "usually" offer, if you go in September you might (probably) get a FD BB for August/September 2013 - sorry to say you probably can't count on a November 2013 date.

Who knows though, it can always change, it's Disney

The bounceback offer will specifically tell you what you will be eligible for so it will all depend on what, if anything, is being offered at the time.

As mentioned, the past few years the bounceback in September is using for free dining. for the following.

I booked my August '12 trip in January '12, I know that is a lot less of a time span than yours, as to that question I am not sure.

Just remember you have to book before the end of your last day, at least that is what they told us, we had to stop on our drive back home for "lunch" aka Bounceback booking.
