can/should you ship supplies to yourself when renting a home offsite?

we are renting a townhome (in Windsor Hills) for the first time this year and i am wondering if it would be possible or even a good idea to stock up on supplies and ship them down to be there waiting for us. Or would that just be a huge pain and any shipping costs would offset any savings on the items themselves.

i am thinking of picking up stuff like laundry soap, paper products, bottled water - that being the heaviest of the items - we would use about 2 cases, and other drinks, non perishable snacks.....on sale over the next few weeks. My thought is that i could ship them down to Fla and pick them up when we arrive. We are flying and with the current baggage restrictions, i don't want to fill my suitcases with such heavy items.
We are staying at a Windsor Hills townhome, so it's not like a regular hotel/resort where you could have the package shipped to the main office and have it waiting for you. or is it?
i was thinking of having shipped to a local Mailboxes Etc or FedEx office or something and just pick it up there.

Or is this idea totally whacked and i should just plan on picking up all these items at the grocery store when i arrive in Fla.

Short term rental resorts are not allowed mail from the us post office.

You can ship like UPS if you know the date they will deliver and be there to sign.

If you'll have access to a car, I say just pick it up when you get in Florida. That way you can also pick up any food items you may need. :) But if you wish to have the items shipped, call the reservation office and ask them if they can hold your items that you will have shipped until you check in.

We get UPS shipments to our townhome in WHR all the time, you don't need to be there, they'll just leave it at the door of the home. Or FedEx, DHL, etc, US Mail will not deliver there.

That being said, I wouldn't spend the $$ to ship consumables like water, detergent, etc, it's easier and cheaper to go to the local Super Wal-mart. Alternatively, order all of your groceries online using www.gardengrocer.com for delivery, order over a set amount and delivery is free! (Yes, they deliver to Windsor Hills).

If you ask your owner and their mgmt company very nicely, they may just let the company into the home for you upon checkin day so you will have groceries when you arrive. Some do this, some of the bigger mancos will not of course, all depends on who is managing the property, how busy they are that day, etc., we've had this done though.

There is no such thing as a central reservation office or location in the resort itself, so there's no one there to hold anything or receive it for you. It's all individually owned, operated, and managed, by one of quite a few local mgmt companies, which do vary a bit in their operations, character, etc., so you'll have to ask the person you booked through if it's possible in their particular home. You may be the first to ask them this actually!

I agree that if you have a car you are better to pick up most items once you are there. We found the super Walmart on RT 27 so reasonable and convenient to anything on 192. Grammy

Garden grocer is the way to go. We were fortunately enough to have a management company who was able to accept our delivery. Everything was on the counter (or the fridge/freezer if necessary).

I'd buy what I need when I got there. I do bring some laundry detergent from home, just enough for a few loads. No need to buy a great big box or bottle that won't get used up.

What irks me about the new flight restrictions is the limits on liquids in carry-ons. DH and I could travel quite comfortably with our carryon luggage (especially with a washer/dryer in the condo), but I need my jug-o-sunscreen! I have super sensitive skin, so it's hard to find sunblock that won't give me a rash. So I always bring my own. 3 oz. is NOT enough sunblock for a Florida vacation! Being frugal, I can't justify buying a new bottle (of expensive) sunblock once I get there, when I have a full bottle at home.

I've never had a problem shipping stuff to the company I use and I've never had a problem getting mail delivered to the house either. We have rented on Cumbrian Lakes and Sunset Lakes without an issue.

As for shipping laundry detergents, etc... why? You can get stuff from Publix very easily.
