I know a lot of people also feel that sex offenders should be treated as mental patients because when you get down to the basics it may just bea mental illness. I don't personally believe that sexual urges are so strong a person can't overcome them, I think rather that when someone HAS these types of urges it is so beyond comprehensible and embarrassing they don't know what to do with themselves. I mean is there even places for people to go to say "hey...I have something mentally wrong with me, I'm fantasizing about the little neighbor girl who is 4".
You know they are going to start an investigation immediately on this person and what they are feeling is labeled as so "sick" they are afraid they are going to have NO ONE who wants to even associate themselves with them. I'm not trying to make light of these offenses, I'm just wondering as a society what we can do to PREvent them from happening instead of always having to look hindsight after some little girl is found dead.
