We are flying AT booked through SW in February. Just wondering what to do with our bags on the last day. TIA!

Wonderful, thanks! And if we decide to get a car, we can still use RAC, correct? It's only DME that requires you to actually take the bus if you want Disney to handle the luggage too, right?

Yes, RAC is a separate service from DME. You can use it regardless of what transportation you'll use back to the airport, during RAC's operating hours (I think it's 5am to 1pm or something like that).

Luggage handling by DME is for your arrival transportation (from MCO to WDW).

We did this last week. Both our flight down and our return flight were operated by AirTran but booked through Southwest. There were no issues/questions regarding baggage fees when we used RAC. (Southwest's free bags policy applies when booked through them.)

They did ask if our flight down was operated by Southwest or AirTran, though. Apparently if the flight down was operated by Southwest, it caused some unspecified problems at the RAC desk for the operated-by-AT check-ins. (I assume that they know how to work around whatever the issue was. But both our flights were book-through-Southest and operated-by-AirTran so it was easy peasy for us.)
