Can not chose!,i am torn POP vs POR

I know this has been asked a million times and then one more !. I just needed my friends here to add some sympathy to my choices!. we are going to WDW this Oct 2 to the 12th for 6,7 or 9 nights LOL we are deciding if we want to drive to the Florida keys!, or stay the whole time at WDW decisions,decisions.
SO, POP or POR riverside, we have only stay at POR once and have stay at POP quite a few times,but POP Is really like a second home and its the resort that to me best feels that Disney spirit. From what I remember, POR just had this laid back feel to it,and the boat ride to DTD Is so nice,and i like that peaceful feeling. I cant talk my self out of POP,or talk my self Into POR. My DS and his DGF are like dont care Dad, there not any help!. At the end this might be a mute point, I might still stay with POP, but I would love to hear from other POP devotes who went outside and stay at POR or other resort?. I am i over thinking??, maybe I need help?? LOL

My wife and I love POP, we stayed there 3 years straight and had a wonderful time. The year prior to us staying at POP we stayed at POR and didn't like the whole along the bayou feel, it just didn't have the same Disney feel as POP plus its cheaper! The POP food court is amazing, great pools, bus service was always outstanding (I'm not sure if that has changed with the addition of AoA), and the walk to the main lobby was pretty easy. I remember at POR the walk to the lobby/QS was very long! The boat to DTD was nice, but the overall feel of POP kept us going back year after year. Either way, its Disney so you will have a great time!

What is your travel party like? How many rooms are you getting at either? What is the price difference?

One of those factors might make it an easier decision.

All things being equal I would choose POP.

Have you looked at POFQ? All things being equal, I'd stay at POFQ over POP every time. Smaller resort size, quiet, peaceful, great pool, boat to DTD, bigger room size, ceiling fan in room (especially important if it's hot while you're going)

The diff in cost between value and mod, I can justify all day long, especially with younger kids and the pool with slide! Plus the beignets! Can't forget those!

Check out www.portorleans.org, you won't be disappointed. Request building 5 facing the grass courtyard! We've stayed in that location every time at POFQ and loved it!

I've stayed at both and really like both, but here is why I am now partial to PoP.

Cheaper ( I can save money or spend it on food, drinks, souveniers) this time around there is a $500 savings for us.

Food court is yummy and I have never had a crowd issue

Dedicated bus....this bus stops at POP and only POP. No sharing buses if priceless for me and mine. Nice straight run once we get on.

Fun, awesome atmosphere.

These are my reasons. I like POR too but the kid in me keeps bringing me back to POP.

I would pick POR over POP any day of the week simply because it is a mod and has much nicer rooms with more comfy beds I'm sure. I have stayed at ASMu twice and those value beds are hard as a rock TO ME. I wake up with a neck ache and back pain and I never have back pain until I am sleeping in that value bed.

POR has the boat to DTD which I love. I have taken that boat several times. The pool has a slide. And they have a good food court AND a sit down restaurant.

If you pay for a preferred room at POR you will be very close to the lobby and food court so no long walks.

I have heard ppl say that since POFQ is so small you really don't even have to pay for a preferred room because everything is close to everything else.

Just me personally I would pick the nicer resort.

If you need to save money or if you have little kids who love the over the top theme of the values then I might pick the value over the mod.

Yep that's me to a tee!, the kid in me will only stay at POP, but the relaxing atmosphere at POR begs for me to stay there. The split stay Is a good idea, lol but dragging me away from POP might be a another story. The minute you walk into POP lobby, Disney and the mouses magic embraces you,from the happy music, to the colorful paint and decos to the constant Disney characters on top of you. The pool areas scream smiles and laughter. I do agree that, the rooms are on the small side, its me and now my adult DS and his DGF,so it will be kind of tight,but POP also has those great windows, and since we will be there during MNSSHP, decorating the windows and the room Is something i am really looking forward to do. As much as I hate to say it the money factor, is a factor.

I have stayed at both and HANDS DOWN POR! Pop was fine for the price we paid, but POR feels like a wonderful calming resort. It is one of my favorites still

Without hesitation, I would choose POR. I enjoy the relaxing feel. After a busy day at the parks, it's sensory overload for me at POP. However, based on your post, you really like POP. If you like POP so well, I wouldn't worry with switching resorts. Stay with POP and save some money. Use the extra money to stay those extra days you're toying with. Good luck with your decision!
