I realize this will not be possible for her but can we at least watch somebody wake her?

If you make it there in time, she can watch one of the children wake tink. I don't think they let grown ups do it. :thumbsup2

When do they do this? I don't have kids but I think it would just be so cute to watch the waking ceremony. :)

I would like to watch myself, I have a DD9 but I can never get her there quick enough..

My memory is the first child to the shop after the rope drop.

What we learned on our last trip is sometimes after the Fireworks they rewake Tink so it's easier to get to then. They close the store and that area for a while during and after the fireworks to check so you have time to get back around to the store.

That was how it worked for us in 2003. We finished breakfast at CRT and then went downstairs to wait at the rope. As soon as it dropped we ran to Tinkerbell's Treasures and still only beat another family by a few feet. DD work Tink and then they gave her a certificate. I must admit it was cute but having done it once I can't see us trying again.

It is still the first family to Tink's Treasures after the park opens. Some people try to eat at CP or the Castle and time it so they are close by when the park officially opens.

Due to near "fisticuffs" between parents as to whose little angel was FIRST ( or OUGHT to be first, or DESERVES to be first, or was PROMISED to be first, or THOUGHT she was first, or youngest, or saddest, or cutest, or... you get the idea.)

There are many mornings when more than one (a lot more than one) young guest gets to "wake up" the snoozy Tink.

So don't break any speed-records (or bones) trying to be FIRST...
just go on over to the shop and discreetly ask a store CM the status of Tink's sleep-condition.

We were there on several days in late January this year when there were lots of folks already riding attractions, the doors to Tinkerbell's Treasures were wide open... and not a single little angel was around to wake the fairy.
Guess Tink got to sleep-in a bit on those days...

I stood off to the side, watching the non-activity for a few minutes.
I didn't want to chance stepping in front of any "MOM" who might come rocketing-in behind me, warning me to "Back-OFF, my Mindy wants to be FIRST!"

SMACK-DOWN at Tink's... Film at Eleven!

Can someone tell me what actually happens when they wake tink? Is it like a live person or something else?

I have always heard about waking up tink - but I am still so confused, how do you get to be the one to wake her? Is she there the rest of the day?

Gosh you learn something new on here every day! I'd like to know if Tink is a real person or not too.

No your not waking a real person.

You tap a wand on a box behind the counter and a Pixie Dust ( lights ) trail goes around the room. You get a special guest certificate for doing so .

There is also a dresser that has a keyhole you can see tink in (again not real just a projected image or light on a figure) but it doesn't work all the time.

Its just "Disney Magic." (There's no "person" inside a costume.)

Best short description I've found:

"Visit Tinkerbell's Treasures, a shop behind the castle, as soon as it opens. Inside the shop is a very special treasure box where Tinkerbell sleeps! If you are the first guest of the day to enquire, you might be lucky enough to be asked to wake her up. You’ll be told to wave a wand, say "Wake up, Tinkerbell" three times, and then you’ll hear Tink fly around the room. Of course, you probably won't manage to spot her because she's a fairy and flies pretty fast once she’s woken up, but you will see flashing lights and hear bells so you’ll know when she’s awake. You might also be given a certificate and some stickers."

It's fun for the kids BUT not as exciting as you think. I literally drug my DD down MS one morning to go do this because I had read on the boards about it. After running into the shop and yelling "We want to wake up Tink" I got a look from the CM like I was on crack!! My DD thought it was cute, I just thought that maybe they would throw pixie dust or something. I guess I had my expectations way too high. She did get a certificate though.
I think kids that are maybe 3-6 may enjoy it more than say a 12 yr. old. JMO

I don't think they will let adults wake tink....I am going to try on our next trip...we have no kids, but hopefully they will let us.....

If not, then hopefully we can watch a kid wake tink.....this is definately something I want my child to experience (once we have kids!!!)

THAT needs to be made into a "Sticky" at the top of this board.

My favorite saying about these things comes for Hawkeye on the old MASH TV show.

"Its not much, but its really nothing."

:goodvibes

And, although I never MISS it... the same kind of "over-anticipation" can be built up over the "Electrical Water Pageant".

People seem to be expecting to see "Spectromagic on the water", when it is really closer to oversized "Lite Brite" pegs mounted on some barges,

with a "greeting card sound chip" music track. :rotfl:

Don't get me wrong, I still love it, but first-timers, please don't get your hopes set too HIGH.
