We are off in May for the first time.

I am making a info badge for my 6 year old son to be worn around his neck inside his shirt, just in case the worst happens and we lose the little fella.

My question is should I put my own mobile phone number on his badge. I am with the O2 network on a pay as you go contract.

I understand the cast members do an excellent job, but for my own piece of mind I would like to put my mobile phone number so we could be contacted ASAP. However can someone in Florida phone me on my UK mobile number and if so how? :confused3

Thanks for any help.

PS what a fantastic web site for those who have not been yet.

we have used o2 pay as you go phones over there think that they should be triband phones you should check the o2 web site as it has details on it about using in the states if someone rings you you will get charged to recive the call

I would phone 02 and check, because some pay as you go cannot be used abroad, also they are changing phones to quadband mine is, but I don't know if USA has switched to this yet. HEY PAUL!! Just noticed your trip counter, you're not by any chance on the travel city direct flight out of MAN on 29th July r u ?

no we fly scheduled 1 stop fly from manchester

i am with orange and have been told should work as long as your tri band...however i am not sure if its just your usual tel no or if any codes are needed first...good luck.

Im pretty sure O2 PAYG phones have to be specificaly enabled, and from memory they put you on some kind of short term contract (with a credit limit). This was years ago that they did this to me though (and im not even 100% sure I was with O2 at the time).
You will have to put the overseas code on the number you want people to dial though, if you just put your ordinary number it wont work.
We took a couple of o2 contract phones last year, and to ring each other, you had to ring via the UK, as daft as it sounds......and the cost to do such a thing was unbelievable !

Hi

We used our o2 PAYG phones last Oct without any problems. DD rang o2 up to ask for the international roaming to be activated, she was told it already was.
The texts were 50p to send while in the USA, sorry I dont know how much it was for a voice call, we didn't make any of them as we heard they were quite expensive.
DD also had no problems topping up while out there either.

Hope this helps

We have O2 contract tri band phones and they worked fine.
Texts were 35p and calls £1.35 / min I think.
If someone called you you got charged two charges tho with the roaming service so, if you get your PAYG activated , tell everyone at home not to call ;-)
