can MS make reservations at the non-DVC hotels?

I think I read that they do not do this, but I can't find it now. We are planning to stay elsewhere at the beginning of our trip since it's a Friday and Saturday, and we'd like to save those points. Can I make all the reservations with one phone call, or will I have to make them seperately?

MS can only book the other WDW resorts (meaning Non-DVC Disney resorts such as the GF or the Poly, etc.) if you are booking those resorts with your points.

If you want to book the regular non-DVC WDW resorts paying cash to save your points you'd need to book via CRO 1-407-W-DISNEY OR 1-800-828-0228. So no, you could not book with one phone call. You'd need to call both MS for your DVC points stay and CRO for your cash stay.

HTH's:wave:

P.S. -- if you book cash for the DVC's with the DVC member discount if it's available, MS can of course book that for you;)

MS cannot make cash reservations at any non-DVC resort. You'll need to call CRO for that.

If you wanted to reserve a non-DVC resort with points, MS could make those reservations for you. Remember that points reservations are not available for the BC, the BWI, the WL or any of the value resorts.

Best wishes -

jnrrt,
My family sounds like its doing something similar to you. We are staying 4 nights on cash in WDW (pop century) then 5 days in VB. I called MS and booked my cash room, magical express transfer for beginning of our stay and rental car for trip to VB. They did transfer me a few times to the correct department, but the 800 MS number people handled everything for me. Also, I called different days to do different things since I wasn't sure of the whole trip plan on my first call. The only thing I did without member services was book my airfare online.

Just thought you would like to know. Maybe I just got lucky??????????

Or maybe the new reservation systems are completely on line and the DVC system now talks to the CRO system. If so, that's new (and welcome, because it should mean we can link CRO cash reservations with DVC point reservations).

Yes indeed, that would be a welcomed change. I have alway found it to be a pain in the butt when combining cash with point stays. :drinking:

Thanks for all the replies. Still confused about one thing though, are you saying that I can make a reservation through MS for a cash night with DVC discount, or that I can't? And if I call CRO to make a DVC discount reservation, can they do that, or will they not know what I'm talking about?

And I hope that tss2 is right, and they can just do everything, because that'd be easier all around.

I got a AAA discount on my pop century reservations and the room went from $99 to $85 a night........I didn't think about getting a DVC discount since I didn't know about that. I was looking for the cheapest price onsite at WDW. Now I'm waiting for annual pass discounts since my stay starts 7/6 and annual pass discounts go thru 7/4. Hope this info helps.

Also, I do think I remember the person on the phone at MS saying something like we have a new department or area handling something. Not sure. I asked so many questions since I was looking for DVC, AP, discounts, car rental, transfers and wasn't sure what I wanted when I first called. This is our first trip using cash since we joined DVC 6 years ago. MS handled everything quite well so I haven't called the other general reservation number. Good luck!

You definitely call member services for a member discount reservation at a DVC resort. I added a member discount cash night to my May OKW reservation through member services.

There are no DVC member discounts at non-DVC resorts.

I don't think that is the case. I just had a member discount for two nights at SSR in June. I have 5 nights on points. I changed the member discount to an AP rate with CRO since it was a bit cheaper. When I called MS to cancel the two nights at member discount rate, I asked if they could like the reservations (the two cash nights come first). She said they could not link them, but would note the CRO reservation number on my DVC points reservation.
