Can Lava Laps Go Bad?

My lava lamp is not working right. It gets hot enough to make the lava molten and flow, but it doesn't bubble. It just goes to the top of my lamp and stays their. Also, the water got very murkey a few days ago...I have used it sience, and that was four days ago. The water is still murkey. So, can Lava Lamps go bad?

Yeah Brad, they can. Somehow air gets in there, through a tiny pin hole somewhere, and they go bad. Have you been good? Dare you ask Santa for a new one?

36 year old one......ours still bubbles and blurps and does all it is supposed to do.......like us......they aged well........

I have bought 2 over the past 5 years for my kids and they both got murky and the bubble stuff faded pretty badly. It started out blue and ended up a gross yellow.
