went last year in what was our sons first visit abroad since his accident and the relations we went with had never been and hated it and made our holiday awful. So much so that my Mum took a stroke. She has came on greatly and we all decided to go again this year just the 6 of us with no other family members to upset and spoil our holiday. We just found out today my Dad has cancer which is in the very early stages and they will treat with pills and injections. He is desperate to get with us on holiday as is my Mum. Anybody got any experience travel with this being okay. We aren't going until July

Ali,

Sorry I have no experience, I just wanted to say my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I hope you will be able to all go in July.

Best regards

Hi Ali,

Can't offer you anything practical but lots of hugs - sure it will all turn out ok.

First of all I must say how sorry I am to hear about your Dad. Whether or not he'll be fit to travel depends on what type of cancer he has and where the tumour is. You will need to discuss this with his Doctor.

I hope for you, and him, that you manage to travel as planned. Good luck.

Just wanted to add my best wishes too. I hope everything works out. My hopes and prayers are with you.

sorry to hear about your Dads illness , but hopefull he will be able to travel and it will give him something to look forward to , His doctor will be able to tell you all more.

It is a long time away to July yet

sending you all some of the new pixiedust:

I hope your Dad will be ok - one thing that springs to mind is whether he will be able to get travel insurance which he will need in America? :confused3

I hope you are able to go as a family but I would seriously check this out.

sorry to hear that I hope everthing works out ok for you and your family
pixiedust:

Ali, what a blow for you. No advice, but I do hope everything turns out well for you and your family pixiedust:

Our thoughts are with you Ali, keep your chin up  If you are thinking about insurance I've just gone with Age Concern; they are brilliant, do a full screening so you won't be lacking anything in the States and they are VERY competitive :flower3:

I do hope everything goes well, it sounds like they have caught it early at least

do you think they will get insurance ok if my Mum has had stroke (doc says she is okay to travel) Dad now with the cancer which okay they hope they can slow down but still got it if you know what I mean + he has had a heart bypasss albeit 8 years ago (he has always managed to get insurance for that right enough) to be fair they wouldn't mind paying a high insurance premium if it meant them getting.

Sue I had heard Age concern were good.

thanks everyone :goodvibes , thanks for the pixiedust:

I can only speak from personal experience Ali but they have covered my DS2s kidney disease (only diagnosed last year) with only about £100 loaded onto the premium. They will quote you and then give a number to ring where the screening is done. If they don't feel they can cover you they will tell you up front. Another good one to try is Tesco; again they cover pre-existing medical conditions :)

:grouphug: Sorry I haven't got any advice. I just want to send my best wishes to you and your family :goodvibes I hope that everything works out well for you and you're all able to go to WDW!

 to you Ali, hope everything goes ok. I've had clients travel with similair conditions and they HAVE managed to get insurance albeit at a higher premium, shop around as much as possible and do check they are well covered

My mum had cancer. She spoke to her consultant about going on a family holiday to Florida he approved and we all went.

She had to shop around a little bit for insurance, however most insurance companies were happy to accept her with a recommendation from her consultant to say she was fit for travel.

Speak to your dads doctor if he says go, waste no time and go and have the best holiday ever.

My thoughts are with you hope everything works out OK.
