I can't afford to go to WDW right now. Does anyone know where I can register to win a free trip? It's been over 3 years and I really want to go back. I bought 4 day hoppers last year, but wasn't able to go.

Maybe I'll just win the lottery.

Thanks

You can do a search on google for sweepstakes, you'll get TONS of responses. Also, I use www.online-sweepstakes.com, they have lists of online entries sorted by date listed, type of entry (daily, weekly, whatever) or you can search by types of prizes. I've been entering contests for over a year, and I've had 4 small wins. (I do mean small....aspirin, can of soup, t shirt, and stuffed oscar meyer weinermobile. LOL) I figure, it costs me nothing to enter, so why not?

Just a helpful hint, though.....set up a free email acct for this, you will get lots of junk mail if you're entering sweeps.

Good luck!

I probably shouldn't tell you about this :earboy2: but on Mousesavers.com, there is a section called "Disney Freebies". Under that heading is a section called "Sweepstakes" with links to sites that are offering entries to win free trips to WDW or DL. You can also win other Disney things.

Now that I told you about this site, my chances of winning are diminished!

Good Luck!

Consider it good "sweepstakes karma".

Thanks everyone.

I just got layed off for the 5th time in the last 4 yrs. :earseek: , but I need to get back soon. I need it bad! My children are 7 and 9, and they'd love to go back, too. Thanks, bassoongirl, for your sacrifice. If I win, I'll let you know. :flower:

I know Filines Department (May Company) store was offering a Disney Vacation for the grand prize during the holidays- don't know if it's still going on...

O.K. - So, has anyone ever won a trip to WDW? If so, when and how..... and was everything really paid for? Let us hear your lucky tale of pixie dust !!

Do keep in mind you will owe taxes on your winnings. And taxes will be paid on the full price "value" of the vacation. I've paid more in taxes for things than I would have spent on them in the first place (won a computer once, nine months later when I paid taxes on it, the taxes were more than the computer was currently worth).

This is an important fact to remember. DW and I won a "free" cruise playing bingo on another cruise in June. We are taking our "free" cruise in March. By the time we're done, the trip will cost over $3,000. We had to pay the sales tax and port taxes. We will also have to report the value of the cruise on our income tax. The prize was only a cruise for 2, so we had to pay to bring our daughter. Airfare and ground transportation isn't included, so add another $1,000+ for that. And, of course, we need spending money for the week. Last cruise, between drinks, souvenirs, shore excursions, etc. we spent about $1,000.

Don't get me wrong. We're thrilled to be taking another cruise and we think its really neat that we won this trip, but it will end up costing as much or even more than the cruise we took in June. So sometimes those sweepstakes aren't as great as they appear.

We won a cruise on the big red boat. The company said that my 14 year old son was the winner. He took me along as his chaperone. Since he had no other income that year, he fell below the taxable income level and we owed no tax. Many contests specify that you must be 18 or older to enter. But, if you have the choice, use a kids name as the contestant.

I aslo won the Radio Disney trip for 4 that was offered this fall. We will be going in April.

What you pay depends on the contest. Read the print carefully before you choose to enter. On the cruise everything was paid for. I spent a few bucks parking my car at the airport and went parasailing. Everything else, including all the tips that can really add up on a cruise was included!

On the Disney trip we have to pay for all of our meals. We have to cover getting from the airport to whatever resort they choose to book us into so we'll need to rent a car or pay Mears. Then, it turns out that all four family members must fly on the same itinerary. Since our kids are in college out of state that isn't possible. So we'll have to cover one driving to meet us in Orlando. Of course, there will be tips for Mousekeeping. And, we will be paying taxes of 28% on the value of the vacation. I'm not complaining... not by a l-o-n-g shot, just agreeing with the poster who told you that even a free trip may not work out to be free.

Good luck!

Okay I admit it...I'm meddling... Seems to me the question you should be asking is how can I get to WDW despite the fact I'm unemployed? Contests are an option...if a long shot. Given you already have tickets then its a question mainly of accomodations & travel costs. You probably could pull it off with a great deal of creativity. In fact why not post some parameters and see if people could come up with solutions. An example being...

I have a four day hopper, $400, I live in Ohio and I'm unemployed. I need a trip to the World badly. Any suggestions on how I can do it would be appreciated. Granted you'll get some naysayers who will tell you not to go...but my feeling about it is you only get one life to live ...sometimes you have to do something thats fun now and again... The cost of your hopper is a big chunk of a trip to WDW...everything is variable.
