Can I watch my child at Wonderland Tea Party

Can anyone tell me if there is anyway to watch your child at the Wonderland Tea Party. Is there a lobby window or glass viewing area, etc.? I know parents aren't allowed in, but I would really like to see what's going on. My DD is only 4 and I'm not thrilled about leaving her. Thanks!

I don't believe there is - although someone may correct me if I'm wrong! My 4 year old is doing this in December. I will probably sit outside the room and read or something so she can find me if there is a problem. I know my daughter does MUCH better if I'm not around. When I'm around she tends to cling to me for awhile whereas she is extremely social when she doesn't have me there to provide a security blanket for her!

There is no place where you watch your child at the Wonderland Tea Party. You could sit outside, in the restaurant lobby and wait. My girls have been going since they were 4 and believe me, the staff does a wonderful job. You will have a pager in case there are any problems.

I also don't like leaving DD5, but the pager you get does calm my nerves. DH and I will just walk around the GF, or maybe hang out at a hammock on the beach outside and relax. I keep telling myself its only an hour.

When my granddaughter did the pirates cruise, her mother was so NOT thrilled with the idea of her one and only (at the time) going off on a boat for two hours with strangers. But it was my Christmas present to my granddaughter (cleared beforehand but last minute panic that morning).

After my daughter-in-law saw how well Disney handled everything and that boat sailed away, she turned to me and said (direct quote) "What the hell was I worried about? I should have known Disney would do it right".

Get over it! They will take excellent care of your child! I highly recoment a GF Spa treatment, you will have a pager if you are needed.

My DD went when she was 4 and she loved it! I just took a book and enjoyed the quiet time in the GF lobby reading and people watching for the hour while she was having a great time. They did allow the parents to come in with the children when they opened the doors and take pictures and such before they asked the children to wave goodbye to us and we exited the room. It was really cute. They do a great job of entertaining the children and playing games with them. They never leave the 1900 Park Fare room.

She will have a great time, and so will you!

I went on a cruise last year and brought my daughter to the KIDS CLUB most nights. She stayed there alone and loved it. I had no issues with bringing here there because anytime I wanted, I could walk in or look in...and I didnt, but just knowing I could made me feel better.

I did not do "In Room Babysitting" because I did not want a total stranger alone with my daughter.

99.999999999999999999999% nothing would happen, but I dont like the idea of someone not letting me see whats going on. Kind of sound like they are doing something secret.

Not everyone in the World is on the up and up. Look at the Wilderness Lodge manager who got fired last week. Good thing he was just a stupid thief, not a crazy offender.

Are you a parent? I find it hard to believe if you are. 4 year olds do NOT need alone time. Who are you to tell ANY parent that their decision is a "shame".

Everyone has the right to express their opinion. If you do not like the opinion, you are free to disagree, but not attack other posters.

Regarding the original question, Disney does not let you stay, it is an event for children and adults are not allowed. I tried peaking in when my 5 YO nieve did and i was asked to stop, it distracts the children

If you can't leave your child for the event without checking in, then this is not the event for your child.

Thank you for the responses. My husband and I have decided to skip it. And to Belle5, I totally agree with you. Parenting is a personal thing and what's right for one may not be for another. I knew we would not be comfortable with it if we were told there was no viewing area. I had already decided we would skip it if that was the case. When I told my husband that we wouldn't be able to look in, he said "Forget it! No way am I leaving my 4 year old with total strangers, out of state, in a place we have never been." So that was that. But I would never fault others for participating, nor presume to tell them what to do with their kids! I think the tea party would be a blast. I would really prefer to participate instead of watch!

I, too, have no problem with the tea party itself. I don't take issue with anyone who puts their child in there. My problem was with comments about the child/parent relationship opinions expressed by a certain poster.

I'm not sure of the concerns. It's not as if any child is left one-on-one in an entirely inaccessible location with any CM. There are multiple Cast Members, multiple children, and while parents are not allowed to watch because that distracts the children and detracts from the experience... parents ARE given pagers and MAY (do) remain on the resort grounds (usually in the lobby) and are paged in case of any incident.

Maybe calling it "alone time" wasn't exactly the correct terminology - but why NOT let a child spend an hour away from your side, in the company of other similarly-aged children, with trained Cast Members, having a Tea Party a la Alice in Wonderland?
