I'll be staying at the CBR during Thanksgiving...can I use those coffee makers to make just hot water for tea? The thought just occurred to me that way I wouldn't have to "wait" until we got to the restaurant for my first cup of tea. I could just bring a bunch of tea bags with me.
thanks, :p

The coffee pots get the flavor of coffee after they are used. I don't think I would like it. I bring a hot pot with me that I purchsed at Linens N Things. It works quickly to heat up water for 2 cups of tea.

I use hotel coffee pots for tea all the time. I just heat the water up without adding coffee, then I add my teabag to the cup after I pour the hot water.

To make a decent cup of tea, you really need to pour boilingwater onto the teabag -
adding a teabag to hottish water out of a coffee pot wouldn't really work.

But then again, I'm a bit fussy about my tea - I can't stand it when they bring me a cup of hot water and a tea bag in a restaurant.

I would get one of those little hot pots, or a travel kettle if you want a decent cup of tea.

thanks DisneyDenise & Kermit...

I WAS wondering if I'd get old coffee taste in the water... but figured I could wash the basket out really, really, really good and just flush the hot water through. If it comes out gross, I can just walk down to the restaurant and fill up my CBR refillable mug on my way to the bus!! It's just that I like a cup of tea in the morning the same way most people need their first cup of coffee.

thanks again..

Take a little white vinegar with you. Flush the coffee maker twice with clear water, then once with about a cup of vinegar in the water, then twice more with water. That should get rid of most of the coffee taste.

I find coffee disgusting, so I smelled the coffee pot at The Swan, and I decided to make my tea without that coffee pot. I have a couple of heaters to heat up my water for tea. I think it is called an "immersion coil". It is a coil of metal with a plug, that you just put into your tea cup. While tea is certaintly better when you are able to pour boiling water "OVER" the tea bag,
this is a good alternative. The coil takes up much less space than a tea pot in your luggage. I always bring two of them with me, one for my tea, and the other for my hot instant oatmeal. When I am recently done with them, I carefully place them IN the sink,
to cool off, away from anything else. They should not be used anywhere near children.

i also need to have my tea every morning. i stayed at cbr in jan/feb and i had no problem using the coffee maker. i was so happy to realize that we had one in the room. i went with an old college roommate so she knew how i could be before i had my tea so she was grateful as well. i did not notice a coffee taste at all. it was so nice to be able to wake up and have my tea in the room without having to walk. just make sure you have whatever you like to put in your tea if anything. have a good time!

thanks everyone for all the responses and help...I have the teabags and looks like I may have to bring what I refer to as "liquid plastic" aka Creamora--yuck... I can always keep a little bottle of milk in an ice bucket for a few days. If, after reading other posts and learning beer will stay cold, I'm sure milk will too!

thanks, J. :-)

I can't stand the taste fo coffee, so I can't use the coffee makers, because I still get that coffee taste.

I either bring Lipton cold ice tea bags or run the faucet for a few minutes until the water gets real hot and then put it in a cup. If you leave the tea bag in it for about 15 minutes--it makes tea.

Actually you want to add almost boiling water (where it is right on the edge of a hard boil) to tea.

My mother (an avid tea drinker) absolutely loves those electric pots to heat her water. She thinks they work best because the water gets heated to just the right temperature.
As previously stated, the coffee pots may not heat the water as hot as is needed, so having the electric teapot will be assure you a good cup of tea.

Another tip for easy tea making--put a baggie with some sugar cubes in your suitcase if you take your tea sweetened. They're neat, and you won't have to worry about running out of the packages in the room. Honey sticks are also very portable but much more expensive.

I enjoy a perfectly made cup of tea, but just about anything will do first thing in the morning when I'm trying to get moving. Good tea will make up for water that's not quite hot enough and a stryofoam cup. The tea bags for hot tea they use at WDW are Twinings. (At least they are at the counter service places. I never have gotten hot tea in a full service restaurant there.) They usually have a box with a good selection of flavors. As long as they have blackcurrant, I'm happy.

I am a coffee drinker and usually only enjoy hot tea when (1) I'm sick, or (2) on a cold winter's night. When I make it in a coffee maker (when I'm sick and don't want to have to expend too much effort) I place the number of tea bags without their paper tags in the filter basket and "steep" the tea while it goes through the filter basket. Sacrilege, maybe... but it tastes good enough to me. I also do this to make fresh brewed iced tea sometimes... not often since I learned of the cold brew bags. Why wait to steep your tea when you can simply make a whole pot of it? I'd also take along some Dixie "to go" cups so you can take your tea along into the start of your day and still throw them away when you're finished with it.

Have to have my tea, too. I do not like even a hint of coffee taste in my tea so I have found that if I remove the filter basket and just let the hot water drip into the pot, it solves the problem. Haven't done this at WDW, but at many other hotels. You should be careful the first time though as some models don't work well for this..the water kind of spits out sideways. It never tastes as good as tea made with boiling water and then allowed to steep (and cool), but it does the trick for me.

BevS97...the best tea I've ever had was on a trip to England and Ireland. Every morning...a perfect cup of tea. This was true every place we stayed, too. I can taste it now!
