we’re staying with family in orlando and they have annual passes. They reserved a bunch of fast passes for us and said we can take their passes with us, and get their fast passes once we enter the park with tickets we buy ourselves. So my question is, do they have to enter the park with their passes in order for us to be able to use the fast passes in their tickets? Again we will enter with our own passes that have different fast passes on them. Thanks!!!

Yes. (So no, you can’t.)

If their FPs are “better” than yours, you can cancel yours and use the change party feature and assign those to yourself after you cancel yours. Or, if theirs are scheduled later in the day, after you use your first 3, you can use the change party feature and reassign them to yourself.

Disney closed this loophole earlier this year. Now, the ticket MUST be scanned entry into the park in order to use the fast passes attached to it. People were loading like six magic bands prior with fast passes and going nuts, so they had to change the rules.

How could they load them? I thought you had to go to one of the kiosks for same day? Or could you just have done it from MDE in the morning?

When this system was still working, we had two sets of magic bands. The ones we didn't have tickets on (from my old account) allowed us to get same day FP, but that was only useful at MK. The other parks had pretty much nothing by the time we got to a kiosk at park opening. I can see it being crazy if people can get them from MDE without even being in the park though. Glad Disney closed that loophole.

To clarify, if the OP uses the AP holders’ pre-booked FPs when the AP holders are still at home, the consequence occurs within the MDX account not at the ride line.

The only aspect added to this “extra FPs on extra tickets” is that a lock occurs on the AP’s MDX Profile.

When the AP holder attempts to pre-book FPs for a future trip, they will be locked out on MDX - MDX will have the Alert in the FP Area. They will have to call the listed number to request that their MDX be unlocked.

This lock has been reported by CMs who have used their FPs after their work shifts ended because they weren’t aware that they had to exit the Park and re-enter through the Park entrance prior to using their pre-booked FPs.

Closing as the OP’s question has been answered.
