Can I upgrade power pass to preferred pass?

I am considering buying power passes for the family for our next trip based on the strong possibility (but not certainty) that we will be back within the year. I know we will be going for four days this trip so it is not that much more anyway. However, there is also the chance that some of us will return during the summer blackout times. If we do, can I upgrade those power passes to preferred passes at that time?
