Can I transfer my hotel deposit?

I booked a decent rate at HRH in January, and tonight I checked and a better rate was available at RP (about $1k in savings, which is more like $1300 CAD).

Anyway, I booked the RP room and put down a new deposit, but was wondering if I called in would they transfer the money I had put down as a deposit at HRH to RP. It would save me money in foreign currency exchange and also, since I have to pay it eventually, it would be more convenient to have a smaller balance.

Nope, they insist on refunding when you change properties.

I did book room only. Why is that ouch?

Okay, thanks! I had already redeposited, I was just hoping to transfer the other deposit to the new balance. I guess they don't do that.

Yes, this is exactly what I had to do when changing from RP to PB a few weeks ago when a better rate came out. I was told I'd be refunded in 7-14 days but I think it was less than 5 days that I got my original deposit back in my account.

I think they do insist on keeping the deposits separate for each resort .

If you choose to “ transfer” your deposit, I think they explained that I had to keep the original confirmation number if I made any other changes or else I would lose the deposit.
I am just mentioning this because it is important to keep all info …just in case.
I recently messed up and they were able to help unravel this because I kept the date and time and name of team member that was helping me. They said they had to listen to the actual phone conversation to figure it all out. I’m still not sure it was corrected properly.
